Re: Backlight not turning on since 6.5 update
This problem was bugging the hell out of me... Pretty much all the symptoms have been listed already. Upgraded to 6.5, problem started, hard reset, problem went away for a day or two, then came back, no combination of .cabs or settings would fix it.
I noticed that my Yahoo email was not working most of the time on my phone. I would occasionally get crash reports for tmail.exe, and I only recieved emails every few days. On a hunch, I deleted my email account from the phone. Since then, my backlight button has performed flawlessly. Note that 'since then' constitutes about eight hours. I don't know if the phone hates Yahoo, non-outlook mail, email in general, or if I'm going in the completely wrong direction, but being as nobody else has floated a solution yet, I figured I'd throw in my two cents. I hope this works - This issue is the only problem I have with an otherwise flawless phone. |

Re: Backlight not turning on since 6.5 update
This is the much-discussed "failure to wake" problem.
My own experience is that this initially occurs after certain kinds of unexpected errors. Thereafter, it will continue to occur until you turn off Auto Adjust Backlight, power down, and power back up. The problem should then be gone (for now), and you can turn Auto Adjust Backlight back on if you wish. To avoid having to remove the case and back cover so often, I have installed Quaint Reboot from the Windows Marketplace. It contains a "Reboot Now" command that requires no screen interaction. Thus, when this problem occurs, I can reboot simply by activating Voice Command (by holding down the Talk button) and saying, "Start Reboot Now". But after reboot, I must turn off Auto Adjust Backlight or the problem will recur. Here are just some of the unexpected errors that have triggered this: 1) Installing Microsoft's VOIP package, then attempting to use it immediately without rebooting. 2) Setting the phone to Roaming Only, then attempting to make a call immediately without rebooting. 3) Sending a file to a network printer with Jetcet, then closing the Jetcet program before the file is finished printing. |
