Maintain linked Facebook contacts between flashing ROMs?

I actually do save all my contacts with their full names and it still won't auto link every single one..After a fresh flash I:


Immediatly log into manilla facebook

Restore all my contacts

At this point it will suggest(auto-link) 41 contacts. I still have to manually link about 13 more contacts(even though the contact name is the exact same as the facebook name) and I don't see why??????

Also, what's the purpose of signing into manilla facebook prior to loading your contacts? I thought it was for the auto-link feature but it's not.. Either way you do it, it'll still do it...Every chef highly recommends signing in first but I just don't see reason, can someone please explain??? Thanks in advance

mine stay linked using that method and i dont use last names for the majority of my contacts.

how are u syncing via google? im not familiar with syncing over google i have a gmail account if that matters

i dont do my contacts via google, i mainly do mine via outlook and activesync on my laptop.

You can do it via google and exchange server. there was a big topic here in the forums about it when google 1st started it.

If you use a back up program and back up your pim.vol file is backs up your contacts with facebook link and favorite tab in TF3D. I use Sashimi to back up my pim file and then restore it once i flash. Like others said, sign into facebook via your contact card first, then once you restore your pim.vol file, go to the updates and events tab and hit menu and update and you're done.

where can i get sashimi id like to try this? i use to just manually go into file explorer and copy the pim file to my memory card and it would maintain my facebook link, my sense favorite contacts and all my texts and stuff but for some reason on the newest mighty rom build that isnt working for me anymore so im going to try out this sashimi

I was wondering the same thing for a while. I just synced with google, we will see how that goes.

Can someone put up the attachment for Sashimi? I would like a double backup just in case one fails.

Just google "google sync" there is a how-to on it. Assuming that you have a Gmail account.

Folks, for Manila 2.1, there's an easy answer here:

Backup the \FaceBookInfo.vol file, and restore it after you flash. (You can use File Explorer to just copy it to your memory card...too easy).

It contains all your contact links. There's also a folder that contains all their pictures, but you don't need that since Manila will pull down their most recent pictures anyway once that file is restored.

For the flashing junkies among us, Sashimi will back it up, but has a but that it won't restore anything in the "\" folder. A mortscript works here.

I personally use PPCPimBackup to back up that file, plus all my contacts, messages, etc. (set it up as a "Custom" file link), plus Sashimi for grabbing all my Owner and ContactCard info out of the registry, then automatically restore them both after a flash.

Now, I've been using M2.5 off and on, and I HAVE seen those notes in my Outlook contacts, just didn't know what they were for. Thanks for the info!
