Re: Is there a official 6.5 update for touch pro 2 for sprint

Wow, such anger here over this update.

My question is, what does 6.5 provide over 6.1 that is so important to have? I am asking this question because everything I have see is that 6.5 has titanium and a better start menu (which Manila 2.1 already has). Is there something in 6.5 that is so much greater? I tried 6.5 on my TP and thought it was fine, but it was simply an incremental update, it wasn't anything ground breaking.

The question you guys need to ask yourself is if it will provide something you need, or something you think you want.

The fact that you personally don't find interest in the update is no reason for sprint to lag this badly on the update. There are plenty or advantages, most important being the phone is somewhat functional when tf3d is disabled where as 6.1 isn't functional without a shell.

I'm not trying to justify Sprints delay. Unless this thing comes with sense 2.5 or WM6.6 it should have never taken this long.
What I am saying is there is little reason to get so upset over it. The "improvements" are noting amazing, it does not provide additional functionality from what I have seen, and heck many say 6.1 is faster.
As far as a shell is concerned, 6.1 is functional just tedious. That is neither here nor there though as that argument only makes sense if you want or need Titanium, which is a shell too IIRC.
That said, needing Titanium IS a justafiable reason to be upset over the delay, but how many of those who have expressed anger actually need Titanium? Or just want something new to play with?

Bottom line, getting upset to the pont of leaving a carrier, yelling at tech support, etc because they are slow at getting you a FREE update to an OS that provides you no greater capability is just kinda silly. We are not talking about Verizon unlocking GPS, or even getting EVDO Rev A, we are talking about a minor upgrade with tiny improvements. So again, unless it provides something you NEED, why get the old blood pressure up.

I think everyone's gripe is the fact that other carriers have the update already but Sprint is lagging WAAAAAAAY behind...not so much that its something we all need. Its just that we KNOW they could have already released it by now but they havent

Agreed - just another example of Sprint's incompetence wrt upgrades.

I'm OK with that incompetence, given the monthly discount Sprint retentions gave me. I'm running 6.5.5 and having no issues.

And ... Bob Sanders' push-ups are one armed! As a Colts fan, I expect him to play maybe half of next year without a lot of impact. His days are over, sadly.

Wait til you use it. You'll probably understand better after you use it.

Like I said, I haven't used my stylus in forever. There are other advantages too- like kinetic scrolling, scrollable lists (scroll on the main part of the window, not only on a scroll bar), better version of IE with working flash and youtube right in IE- like Skyfire, and finger friendly menus (and not only start- all the menus are spaced out and finger friendly).

It's a huge upgrade. Like p-slim said, if I didn't already have WM6.5, I would be up in arms over Sprint not releasing it yet. I would absolutely drop Sprint over this if I didn't have WM 6.5 already. Of course, I'm dropping Sprint anyway as soon as someone else releases a phone I want.

Maybe Sprint can't figure out how to make MMS work with HTC messaging either!

Re: Is there a official 6.5 update for touch pro 2 for sprint

I really dont want to try to defend sprint, but after the rom update on the Touch Pro went so horrible, were most people started to have more problems with their phone then with the original rom, I understand the delay. The last thing I personally want to see is an update released that is not gonna mess my phone up now that I finally got a TP2 that works compared to the 8 messed up tp I had to deal with. Just my 2 cents.

Isn't the whole point in owning a smartphone related into having something you want? something better, something more, something that makes you happy inside to use? It doesn't matter if it's ground breaking or not, if it's bigger, and better, most smartphone junkies are bound to want it.
