Re: Is there a official 6.5 update for touch pro 2 for sprint

I had a chat with Sprint yesterday. I'm still being told that they should have a release by the end of the first quarter (March). I was told that its taking so long for them to have a release because of something about an operating system to troubleshoot customer issues. I was sure to tell them that they are the absolute last to put out a 6.5 release. I am not patient enough to wait so Im now using MightyRom. I might use sprint's release when and if it ever comes out just because I like the 6.5 stock roms. But yeah I just figured I'd share what I heard straight from sprint.

Oh Im right along with you, when I had my second little chit chat with sprint yesterday it was with retention services. I told her that I dont think sprint should sell phones that cost $600 if they are not going to provide simple upgrades that everyone else is. I actually am looking into VZW......pretty sad since Ive only been with sprint for a year.....

get ready to spend more $$$ at Verizon. I switched from verizon to Sprint back in 2008 because Sprint is way better on pricing and you get a lot more for your money.

Re: Is there a official 6.5 update for touch pro 2 for sprint

Switching because of an upgrade that is not available (and it isn't as simple as u may think) is probably not the best reason to switch.

I mean normally you would want to consider price, coverage, as well right?

I mean I am upset because I can't get the 6.5 upgrade myself.... but that isn't the reason I would switch.

And telling them they should not sell phones for 600$ ... lol I am sure they got right on that.

You don't get anything more but you do get better value for what you're paying. Vzw gives you more, better coverage, visual voicemail, and a company that actaully gives you updates. Hero and moment were out before Droid and Eris, moto Droid just got there 2.1 update and Eris is getting theirs within the next 2 weeks. Hero, moment, and even sprint tp2 nobody knows when those will FINALLY drop. Its up to the consumer to decide what they value.

Its not entirely because of the upgrades lol that would be a bit unreasonalble to fly off the handle for lol. No Ive had a few other underlying issues with them that is the reason Im being pushed away, and yes I do realize the pricing is much better, Im not 100% on leaving just yet but they do have my looking.

Re: Is there a official 6.5 update for touch pro 2 for sprint

T-Mobile is cheaper than Sprint, gets phones before Sprint, has faster 3G, has GSM that lets you use voice and data at the same time (and easily switch devices by swapping the SIM card), and has had their 6.5 update for quite a while now.

Not trying to start a carrier war here, just saying if you want to call Sprint and threaten to leave them you probably want to mention T-Mobile. As long as you have coverage in your area it's way better than Sprint. As soon as they get a decent Android slider or even a Win Phone 7 slider (assuming the rumors are false and it turns out to be a decent OS) I'll probably be going that route.

Re: Is there a official 6.5 update for touch pro 2 for sprint

Its funny, the only reason people are some what OK with the fact that sprint hasn't released an update yet is because of cmonex, olipro, and the hspl. What if cmonex and olipro decided not to create the hspl, everybody on sprint that had decided to pay for a $600 phone and wouldn't have gotten the promised 6.5 update yet still, would be in a complete uproar. If there was no hspl this would've been my last straw with sprint for good, and it would've been just because of an upgrade.

Re: Is there a official 6.5 update for touch pro 2 for sprint

The only reason I bought the TP2 when I did (last October) was because Sprint said the 6.5 update was coming in last November. I should have known better. Then there was a whole fiascoe with the store lying to me about something else....then corporate dropping the ball when trying to fix it...the customer retention getting involved and makeing me start the resolution process all over again.

Bottom line is Sprint's customer service is a TRAVESTY! I deal with A LOT of CSR's in my line of work, and Sprint undoubtedly has THE WORST customer service I've ever experienced. I'm looking at jumping ship yo T-Mobile. This stems from their pooch-screw of the TP2 6.5 update.
