It probably wouldn't be that hard. You could put one of those flat batteries on the inside of the cover, connected to a small push button switch on the back cover, with an LED on the back cover connected to the other end of the switch.

interesting idea, although i would prefer if there was a way to turn the flash on without holding down the button(maybe triple click to turn on?). I would definatly pay for battery cover with flash(and pre-drilled hole for reset button)

i didnt think i would miss the flash from the TP1 but that little thing actually did improve pictures a bit
