Very dweeby $3 solution for our missing flash :D

As you all know, the removal of the beloved camera flash from the TP2 has been a thorn in many a side, including my own. The flashes on the Mogul & TP1 have saved me from countless broken necks while fumbling in the dark. But I have found something that is a usable, cheap remedy. BTW If you guys don't have Hastings where you live, a. I pity you cause Hastings is awesome, and b. if you don't know, it's a huge Borders-esque store that sells new & used movies & books, and also offers magazines, coffee, and random doodads. All kinds of neato stuff can be found there.

Behold! The Lümpod! A tiny, stick-on LED flashlight for cell phones. Yes, I bought 2 cause I have 2 cases lol...

PROS:

*Incredibly Cheap. $2.99 at Hastings(you can order it at Hastings.com if you don't have any stores in your area)
*Very bright dual LEDs
*4 colors- black, white, silver & pink
*Very strong 3M adhesive- this thing will NOT fall off
*Replaceable batteries
*Does not use your phone's battery
*Makes you look even nerdier :)

CONs:

*Adds slight bulk
*You have to hold the button to keep the light on(but that's kinda good cause it won't get accidentally turned on in a purse or pocket)
*Big con- Makes your phone kinda wobbly if you lay it on it's back
*Feels kinda wonky when texting
*Makes you look even nerdier :(

Anyway, just thought I'd share this with you guys in case nobody had seen these. I know a lot of you are really wishing for your flashlights back & this is as close as we're gonna get for a while.

Hopefully it is only a matter of time when some company offers a replacement back cover with a LED light built in.

that actually isnt a bad idea. surely its possible to mount one inside the cover. In fact, I wonder if a few items from radio shack and some work with a dremel might accomplish this. Mount the led in the back cover, run the wires to a microswitch that is mounted on the side of the phone and draws power off the main batt terminals. Its alot of tinkering, but maybe.........

I hope you're right, but I doubt it will happen. The reason I say that is because the Kaiser also lacked a flash, and there was never a back cover with a built in flash offered. Some guy on XDA said he was going to make one, but it never happened.

I'll be buying if someone does make one though.

Well, aside from how hideous that thing is, I must agree it's dweeby, too! :laughing6: Too bad it can't be adapted for use as a camera flash.

If only I had the funding, I could easily make that happen :)

I'd be afraid to pull out the wires every time I opened the cover. I'd go with a seperate flat battery like a CR2032 or even smaller.

Why is the screen not bright enough to use in the dark? *ponderous*
