I hard reset after all of my flashes. It only takes 5-10 minutes so why not just go ahead and be on the safe side!

not sure if it makes a difference of not, but i always hard reset after flash just because there's no reason not to. i just do the 3-finger (plus stylus) salute immediately after flash... takes no extra time

i don't...

how would people know if it runs faster or not? maybe the new rom you just flashed to is just better.... i would like more opinions from people who actually know what they're talking about. there has to be a way to actually tell if there's a difference if in fact that is the case. until then, it seems like people do it because they heard it helps. That kind of influence can play mind games and make things seem smoother. people even say to do it on a stock rom, which seems silly to me. my tp2 stock rom was the fastest/most stable rom i've ever used. i only flash custom because i'm sick of 6.1 and i want m.2.5

this is true.
like i said, though, the only reason i do is because there's no reason not to. you don't even waste any time if you do it the way i said above

Precisely. Has anyone ever seen a logical/factual explanation of the rationale behind doing a hard reset (or two) after flashing a rom? I sure haven't.

The point of a hard reset is to restore the phone and take it back to the state it was in when it was first flashed. This means that hard reset = same as when you flash a new rom.

It's pure superstition. It's like hanging a rosary from your rear view mirror.

If you know something I don't... please, by all means... prove me wrong.

Well I can say I hard reset 2x after a flash. First, the manual way then the clear storage way. Don't know why......kinda like when I play baseball (play in NABA) and when I am pitching I blow bubbles. Maybe just for comfort or relaxation, but I do it. I feel better after the resets. Plus like strra said, right after a flash when the phone is resetting you do a hard reset, it actually takes no time......but the second one does.

say what, your always posting something is wrong with your rom. i finially saw your phone is perfect now but thats not usually the case from what i read. not saying hardreset will fix your problems but cant hurt.

The kind of problems I post would not have gone away with another hard reset. I like to install cutting edge apps/ROM's etc & troubleshooting always goes along with that. Just out of curiousity, name a problem I have had that wouldn't have occured if I had hard reset again??

The only thing that was a real PITA lately was getting MMS to work right in a manila 2.5 ROM & NOBODY could get that working at the time.

When we finally realized what the fixes where (changing Arcsoft settings etc), you could have hard reset 100 times in a row & it wouldn't have changed anything.
