Re: The purpose of the design of the back cover

The picture is the inside of the back cover from my TP2 to show that the holes do not allow heat to pass through. The material that you see cover those holes is a paper type material.

As far as me being a "noob" just because I recently joined these forums is irrelevant to any knowledge I may have on PPC's. I've been a member of howardforums and xda-developers since 2005. If your gonna just spout off the term noob, maybe you should stick to playing WoW.

No bearing on the over-all topic, but...

Depending on your definition of "plastic", it can. I sell electronics for aerospace use. Electronics that are exposed to vacuum can't dissipate heat via air convection (no air). These products have epoxy injected into all "air spaces". This epoxy provides enough thermal dissipation to keep the electronics happy and functional in vacuum.

Now, back to the argument...

Re: The purpose of the design of the back cover

the back of the sprint cover is by design. its not a heat dispenser, purely design. its unique and thats it, i actually like it, but to come up with a reason is just a waste of time.

Re: The purpose of the design of the back cover

It could be ventilated for air flow, but it's definetly NOT a heatsync.

Mods, feel free to close the thread if necessary, I think we've come to a conclusion at this point.

you definitely know its not a heat sync because if htc felt the tp2 needed a heatsync they wouldve done it for all cdma phones. people have to realize telus, sprint, and verizon are basically the same phone so if they felt sprint needed a heat sync then they wouldve done it for all cdma phones.

Re: The purpose of the design of the back cover

The black tape on the cover is to display the orange. The reason why the battery isn't as hot is because it is simply larger with 2-3 times more surface area. That is kinda simple.

The plastic kinda works as a sound port for one of the speakers. If you notice the sound comes off of one side and is sealed by a rubber square while it travels to an exit port on the other side of the cover. Look and you will see what I am talking about. Press around the square and notice that it is rubber. The sound comes out, travels down the small port and exits the holes on the back. Removing the plastic definately affects the sound quality. I don't like the sound without the cover.
