As soon as Telus gets around give me my new Pro2, I will be sending you the required information. I never thought when I joined this site years ago, that I would have to engaged in Cloak and Dagger activities to get an Unlocker to free me from the man!

And just so everone is clear, I am not a commercial user. Like most of us, we have friends or family who also have a Pro2, and they are not as geeky as I am

HTC didn't put any work into giving you the ability to flash custom roms and Cmonex/Oil did....
The unlocker is their creation made from scratch....

If someone adjust the software that Cmonex/Oil made, the unlocker, then it would and should be considered warez...
Now if someone starts from scratch and makes their own software to unlock the phone, so be it, but I havn't seen anybody accomplish this yet....

Cmonex isn't selling HTC's code...
Cmonex made something to break the Carrier's/HTC's lock on your ability to do things that HTC?carriers's didn't want you to have the ability to do ......
Cmonex/Oil are offering two unlocks for free per person(upgraded last night I believe), and if there is a legit reason they will allow the unlocker to unlock it additional times....

If they don't have it setup the way they do now then others will take the Cmonex/Oil work and profit from commercially unlocking TP2's....
It has been done on prior devices with Cmonex/Oil unlocker's before....

It has already been stated that here or in the official unlock thread that a 3rd party phone dealer is already doing this....
Except the 3rd party dealer wasn't giving away anything free but was charging per unlock....

That you should just get what you want for free without any consideration that people actually did more than clink on a link and download the file to make roms/unlocking/themes possible.....

Wow... 5 people in a family with Tp2's sounds commercial? With the deals Sprint was giving for a short period of time for tp2's this doesn't sound commercial at all. Sounds like a smart family that wants to keep their lives organized but also want to flash nonoem roms. The problem that people have is this

1. For a time period (which may change) responses were taking longer than 3days to get back when a support ticket was submitted.

2. People like Mighty & Juggz and other rom developers aren't recording IMEI, IP, and PCID’s for you to flash their roms. If rom developers ever went to the same system as the HARDSPL, we all would be in “DONATION” hell. Lol

3. Unlocking your phone once, disabled EVERYBODY else in your household from unlocking and a support ticket has to be submitted. What if MIGHTY went to the same system, OMGGGGGGG this whole PPCGEEK thing would go down the drain. I’m thankful for the hard work that went into the HARDSPL, but understand peoples frustrations and just relax.

4. Nobody is use to the system and its new and has bugs and hopefully the bugs will be worked out with them going to a 2device per household. I’ve donated to Rom developers and thankful for their work, but the Hardspl donations are different and so people aren’t use to this new method.

5. I’m just glad that so far only the HARDSPL has this method of tracking and donations and nobody else so far hasn’t followed suit. If this does become a trend, I’m pretty sure people like you MinLo will be on here cursing the world as well. lol

Trust me, I am well aware of that. Not sure what it has to do with this topic, but yes, I know carriers (pespecioally American CDMA carriers0 liek to keep a tight lock on every device using their network.

Wrong. Totally wrong. The RUU loading the SPL is clearly made by HTC.
Let me explain how this work so you can make better sense of this...

HTC DID create an SPL and load it onto the phone for us. HTC's SPL runs a certification check to make sure whatever ROM you are loading is a signed HTC ROM. Cmonex and oli hacked that SPL to bypass that certification process- therefore it will now load any ROM. So you are wrong. HTC DID create the software, and these guys simply hacked it to work the way we want it to work.

Not even cmonex and oli started from scratch. They are clearly using HTC's RUU, and likely using a modified version of HTC's SPL too.

I realize all that. I just don't see why it's perfectly okay for them to hack up HTC's code, and not okay for anyone else to hack up what they ended up with.

I'm not discounting what they did. I am just saying that if HTC wanted to, they could easily take them to court for their actions. So if HTC is being so nice about it, why are Cmonex and Oli being so restrictive?

I never said it was a simple task. I just said it wasn't them starting from scratch and entirely coding their own app. They tweaked HTC's work. And to answer your question, I don;t have time for it.

The purpose of this community (and XDA) is for people to share their knowledge and help each other. It was never intended for people to come here and hawk their work. Asking for donations is fine. Requiring it is another matter. And, again, calling it warez when someone else hacks "your" work, when "your" work is only a hacked up HTC product, then it is too much.

Uh, for your information I have 4 Toucfh Pro 2's on my family account. Me, my wife, and my 2 teenage sons ech have one. Nothing business or commercial about that. It's a family plan, with a family using it.

Look, I'm not complaining about donating. Like I said, I donated twice. I am coplaining about cmonex and oli calling it warez if someone hacks the hard spl- when that is exactly what they did to HTC in the first place. And I am also saying it is not right to require a "donation" and put strict copyrite protections (and gather personal data) for something that is supposedly free anyway.

Sure the cooks deserve donations. But they would be out of line if they REQUIRED a donation. And the would also be out of line if they put all kinds of copyrite protections, gathering personal data, and calling it warez if anyone else tweaked their ROM.

Look man, YES, I had an SPL preinstalled on my phone- as did everyone else. It's just mine (and everyone else's) was set to verify that the ROM was signed by HTC. Cmonex and oli removed that verification process- and then added their own verification process (verifying that it has only been used once).

PPCGeeks just didn't want to upset the only people that have made one so far. That doesn't mean it was a correct or fair decision.

why, who the hell told you you needed to send the tickets under 2 different names? I certainly didn't. unless I misunderstand you mean that by cloak&dagger activities.
you could have just told me the truth about the 2nd device, that's much easier, I suggest you don't use the 2nd ticket, but tell me in the 1st one (the one made under your own name) what the 3rd phone is for.
