I don't know how much difference there is between the 4XXXX series and the 3XXXX series. I was pulling 40051 with my BB at last report. I've since activated my titan and was dismayed to see only the latest 30000 series. I find the 40051 to generally pull better reception, but YMMV. In the past, 40000 allowed EvDO roaming on more networks, but i'm hearing that the 30000 series is now starting to allow EvDO roaming.

Sure. The 3xxxx series are for many internet enabled phones on Alltel's network. For some reason, though, they have given Blackberry and computer-adapter cards the 4xxxx series PRLs. The 4xxxx will allow you to access more towers on more networks without hitting a roaming charge (unless you see the dastardly solid triangle, which means you will face roaming charges. I usually only see that when I'm in another country.).

The current and most complete PRL is 40050 and available on the link posted above on The Answerman's website. He also has instructions on why and how you can update. I've been on 40050 since a day or two after it's release and have been EXTREMELY happy with both my coverage and data speeds.

EDIT - It looks like 40050 is no longer the newest. Time to update!
