Re: iphone web browser
I took the 14day AT&T trial with the Iphone and returned it in the end... Not because I is disliked the phone, because I know a 3g or Iphone2 is just around the corner. Also, historically speaking the second generation of anything from Apple has always being amazing (think Ipod v2).
A lot of people state that the PPC can do more things than the Iphone? True, absolutely, spot on chap... but honestly I'm not a jack of all trades master of none, kind of guy. I cannot tell you how much time I spend daily trying to figure out ways to customize my Titan and make it run more efficient. And as time goes on I continue to strip out the programs of fat that I never use. Honestly what more do you need your phone to do other than receive calls, text message, email, play music, take decent photos and put the internet in your pocket? To me if I need to do something more than that I jump on an actual computer. That being said, in the end the Iphones gave me all of that with an intuitive interface and insanely amazing web browser. The browser itself is what has sold me on the upcoming model update. I've tried every browser I can get my paws on for the PPC. Skyfire, Opera, Netfront, and IE nothing compares or even gets close to comparing to Safari Mobile. Yea Skyfire renders the "real" web but scanning a page can be cumbersome. Netfront and the new Opera beta are very nice... but memory hogs that crash my device. Yea yea I know beta! beta! I understand its a F%*!ing beta! but it doesn't matter when I only have 17mb of free ram. OK. I'm off my soap box. I too hope that the Iphone pushes MS and other ppc companies to manufacture better devices. I've been using PPCs now for 7 years hoping for something different and I think finally Apple will push MS to do something about it. Just look at WM7 screen shots and the new devices like the Sony XPERIA X1... cheers Q |

Re: iphone web browser
I don't know about the rest of the Mogul users but I only surf on my Mogul unless I ABSOLUTELY have to. (ie. if I'm within 30 minutes of a internet connected computer... I'll most likely wait). It's just way too cumbersome. That's of course, excluding Safari on the iphone. I'm convinced that it's maybe the one application that actually lives up to the hype . Even the most adamant PPC-users (iphone haters) actually have to grudgingly admit it's a good program.
If Apple ever makes it available for WM devices, they'd sell like crazy... I've heard rumors that Apple was going to release a WM version but that was a while back and haven't heard anything recent. Until then, we can only hope something comes out of beta that works just as nice. |

Re: iphone web browser
I'm really surprised no one has been able to duplicate it yet. It's THAT good.
The screen size and resolution really help though. Even when zoomed out you can read a little. On my wm phones zooming out is almost useless.

Re: iphone web browser
Checked out my friends iPhone and the iPhone browser is amazing. 100x better than any WM versions. I was jealous of the way if works. But accessing the web was horrible.
It took the iPhone 2 to 3 minutes to fully access a site when my Touch took seconds. Is there any browser out there that is similar to iPhones that I can dl? |
