My sticker is still in white. I guess it's because I picked up the phone immediately.
After I have done some google, I found I made two biggest mistakes: 1. I did not take out battery immediately. 2. I even tried to test the phone. Quote:

Well, yes you have to wait 30 day to file and insurance claim. If there is no sign of water damage to a technician in a store then they will replace it for you starting on day 1 but if they see any sign of water then it has to be done through insurance.

i cant word it any better than the wikipedia page..
Insurance fraud hurts the average person in two ways. First, all fraud costs, including losses, investigations, etc., are paid for by the insured through higher premiums, or, in the case of government insurance like Medicare, in higher taxes. Second, if a particular individual is the target for the fraud, they have costs such as deductible payments, loss of property use, etc., as well as higher premiums from the claim loss and the potential for denial of future coverage. i dont know if water damaged phones are covered by TEP or not. if they are not, and you are not honest about why you need to file your insurance claim, it is illegal. |

it seems that I do not need to buy TEP, I just need to buy the total replacement program which is only $4.

$4 will get you the insurance or equipment service and repair. If you get insurance then you will be covered for things like loss or water damage through Asurion with the $50 deductible. If you get equipment service and repair you are covered for things like buttons, screen, ect not working and in those cases the store replaces the unit for no cost.
For $7 you can get TEP (Total Equipment Protection). TEP gives you insurance and Equipment Service and Repair under one plan. |

Assurion will replace it for any reason. You can call them and tell them that you ran it over with your car, broke it because you were mad, lost/stolen, or wanted to see if you could make a call while snorkling. They don't care that's what it is for. You can only have 2 claims in a 12 mo period and they have the right to send you a "like" phone if the one you have is not available.
So in a nutshell if you have the TEP you can use it whenever you want for whatever reason. If you're not showing water damage then just return it to a store and have them swap it out since you're under 30 days. |

And yes, if you call Asurion and tell them you dropped your phone in the drink they will replace it for 50 bux. No questions asked in that scenario. Or if you want to keep it just to tinker with it and have spare parts/whatever you can report it lost and they will flag the ESN so it cannot be used again. Then you will have an extra PDA if you can get it working again... |
