Re: Touch Pro or the BlackBerry Curve

I'd have to agree with most of the folks here. But to get a more 'fair' view, you might want to check out a blackberry site too like crackberry.com

I personally wouldn't want to use a blackberry because of its limited functionality and lack of third party software, but I can definitely see the merits of the phone especially those who are not as handy with technology/gadgets as the people on this forum are.

The 'right' phone for you would depend drastically on your style and preferences. I like to install lots of random third party apps to do really crazy things that I would never be able to do on a blackberry, like broadcast my EVDO connection over WiFi or use my phone's flash as a flashlight or install a turn-by-turn GPS program like Garmin. Even something as simple as playing specific formats of media/videos can be difficult on devices such as the blackberry or iPhone. Just some things to keep in mind. I'm sure those in a blackberry forum can tell you the merits and wonders of a blackberry too.

You should know better than to listen to the people in the stores. That's just like how Verizon claims their Touch Pro is the best device on the market. It's a buncha junk. I don't like any Palm devices, for one the SQVGA screen is retarted, there isn't really an easy way to make ROMs. Really, HTC Pocket PCs are usally the best. The Omnia is okay though. Anyways, I think the Touch Pro is the best.

Re: Touch Pro or the BlackBerry Curve

i had a curve and got bored with it pretty quick. i upgraded to the titan and love it.. i personally think that it is way better.. only downfall is that the titan freezes a hell of a lot more than the blackberry did.. i cant say anything about the touch pro because i have not had a chance to use one or the oppurtunity to get one.. us cellular sucks when it comes to phones for my area!!

Re: Touch Pro or the BlackBerry Curve

One of my friends at work has a BB and just to add a ring tone from your computer you have to use the USB all the time. In my TP I only use Bluetooth to transfer files, pictures, music, and ringtones to and from my computer. Also, I have customized using Mighty Rom which is great and very stable it does not freeze. I had a 6800 and I love it too because I customized it using the kitchen and it was very stable with the stuff I like. On a BB you have to go thru breaking your head to set up a modem to use it with your laptop. On a WM phone you can use Internet Sharing or Bluetooth and you're conected with no headaches. I'm pretty sure I left some other descriptions out and this is why I love my Touch Pro.

Re: Touch Pro or the BlackBerry Curve

ever notice how every ditzy over-tanned sorority girl has a blackberry of some sort? that right there has always been enough to keep me from ever getting one. smartphones for the dumb, my friends, smartphones for the dumb. they're fine if all you need to do is make calls, send email, and check your myspace, but for a true phone geek being stuck with a BB would be sheer hell. no apps, no hacking, no personality- ugh. sends chills down my spine just thinking of it. reminds me of my old sidekick days back in the stone age.

I can't wait to get my TP. im eligible for a $150 upgrade, all im waiting on now is the 300 bucks the TP is gonna cost me. damn crappy job market. the plasma center is looking more appealing every day...

so... anyone wanna buy me a late b-day gift? lol...

Re: Touch Pro or the BlackBerry Curve

One of the engineers in my office has a BB curve and she's going throught hell trying to get it to sync her calendar and e-mails. I'm staying away from it, let the IT guy figure it out.
