I dont remember where I read this but it's my understanding that BT and wi-fi use the same antenna. When data is transmitting over wi-f the BT becomes choppy. Do you have wi-fi disabled?

Flip - thanks for bringing this up again - on page one and on another forum those of us with choppy performance have confirmed WIFI is OFF. While WIFI may contribute to the issues, even with WIFI off many of us are still having the issue with bad BT performance.

Dukoolio even though I doubt the headset matters as we have conflicting reports about which do work and which don't, can you confirm what headset you are having problems using with the 6800?

Somoene (one of the developers who helped with the latest 3.5 rom for the 6700) mentioned a high compression rate on the 6800 - I wonder if that is the source of the issue and if there is a way to reduce the compression.

I was thinking along the same lines and found it on pdaphonehome's first look (don't think i can post links yet) that it does indeed share an antenna.

I also thought that I read somewhere that using wifi and bluetooth at the same time makes bluetooth a take performance hit, but i cant seem to find that article now.

From pdaphonehome's first look:

We now have a dedicated WiFi button to turn it on and off. This is very handy for me, because I don't use WiFi a lot and I'd like to know for sure when I am turning it on. It was reported early on that WiFi and Bluetooth share an antenna so that they couldn't be used simultaneously. I have found that this is not true. I was able to use WiFi while listening to stereo music via Bluetooth. What I did find is that throughput via WiFi was about 25% reduced when Bluetooth was active.

I had it backwards. My bad.

im one of the first if not the first person to buy this phone in america (the sprint version that is) hence i have been playing with it longer than most, and i can with all honesty say that the Bt on the mogul STINKS!!! i've tried it with a moto h500, moto hf850 carkit, and the my jawbone and they are all low in volume and fade in and out. Most people keep asking me to repeat myself but i dont cause the volume is so low i cant hear them pleading. i called htc and they were no help, they rep told me that they havent recieved any complaints about the bt and that i should call moto and the makers of the jawbone and see if the devices are compatible. he also tried to sell me an htc branded headset...jackass. hopefull they address this or i will be buying the blackberry 8300 next week.

Thanks for posting - I'm glad you called HTC. Like most big companies, I bet they have a lot of reps answer the phone, turnover, lack of communications - all things that lead to no effort on repairing the issue until they are overwhelmed with calls. I think too many of us will end up going out buying additional headsets, looking for bt dongles, using our wired headsets as work arounds assuming that HTC is aware of the issue and working on a solution.

Again I encourage people to call - 866-449-8358 so that enough cs reps hear it enough times that they actually kick it back to engineering - I'm sure as far as your rep goes, they've marked it down as a closed call - buying another headset was the solution.

I don't think HTC is looking at that wiki - I'm not sure why they are suggesting people look there as there hasn't been a single solution posted by HTC. Again I suggest you call 866-449-8358 and report if you are having issues. Ask for Tier 2 tech support if they just point you to the HTC wiki - which is less effective than looking here for a solution to this problem.

That's a good question, although this seems to be an issue related to WM6 and Telus' device has WM5.
