If this really does become official, they might as well forget the 6800. It will be so tainted by then no one will want it, and everyone will have moved on to something else. Dave |

From the way I look at this, it's a good way for Sprint to make you wait, and wait, and wait for the full goodies that are expected on the 6800 (WM 6.0, EV-DO Rev. A). Now, since the 6800 does not come out until October, people will buy this phone. . .only that Sprint will roll out Wi-Max (if everthing goes according to plan.) in 2008 and you guys will end up buying another phone in less than a year.
That's a scheme if there was ever one! :P |

I can't speak on verizon but all I know is what has been reported, sprint stores got information and spec sheets and supposedly the release date was may 14th. I don't have the link but if someone wants to look up the CTIA event at phonenews.com (the one with pictures) - I can't remember if the reporting said both sprint AND verizon were holding off on releasing until rev A and wm6, or if it was just Sprint.
ps I'd like to send my condolences to Hobbes and those users of the 6600 who were holding off updating for this phone. poor Hobbes!!! |

This would be a perfect opportunity for Verizon to get a jump on Sprint.
As long as they offer the upgrade at a later date, I would take it now with WM5 and Rev 0. Even if they didn't offer the upgrade I still would seriously consider going to this phone. It offers everything that I want in a phone. |

Ouch, the 6800 getting delayed until October has put Sprint into a tough spot. I would be glad to definitely have WM6 and Ev-DO Rev. A rather than be put in the spot of the 6600 users and not receive a radio upgrade. Although, I will admit that the jump from 1xRTT to Ev-DO Rel. 0 is quite a bit more drastic and than going from Rel. 0 to Rev. A.
Oh well, I think I can survive until October. |

Man, if Verizon doesn't hit the July timeframe, then I think I'll be far enough to finishing my contract that I'll just buy the GSM phone I want (with GPS) and jump on the Cingular band wagon. I never had much problems with Cingular and I use my phone more as a PDA and navigation than I actually talk on it. Data speed might take a hit, but I'm content with that.
I'd definitely take the 6800 as is without WM6 and Rev A if I could get it now!

I for one don't really care if they delay it as I still love my 700WX, but I've gotta tell you, if they make Sprint users wait till Oct 07 for a phone that was sappose to be out last year, it will be a bad move on Sprints part. They will loose alot of ground if they do this. Plus, by Oct 07, most phones will be REV-A and WM6. I would love to see Verizon release it as is just to prove my point and watch Sprint get spanked!
