mogul power issue

I have noticed after upgrading my ppc 6800 to rom 3.56.651, if I plug in my charger while the phone is turned on the battery starts draining power.

I have been to several sprint stores and they think i am on drugs until I show them this happening to new phones. They then tell me this is how the phone is supposed to work.

I have called HTC and they say they are not fimiliar with this issue. I have now seen it on severl phones but not all.

Has anyone esle had this issue??

Re: mogul power issue

This happened to me with the original ROM that came with my phone when I bought it almost a year ago. Don't think our issues are related though...
My issue was I was using an iGo charger I got from RadioShack and had the wrong iTip on it. I was using the a32 tip when I should have been using a a53. They are both mini usb tips outputting 5v but the a53 has a much higher amperage which this phone needs.

I exchanged the tip and has been working fine since. Not sure if this is the same type of charger you are using but that was my issue!

Re: mogul power issue

how are you reading the drain? is the charger plugged into a power source when this happens? all chargers or just the one you have?

I noticed that if I use the motorola s9 charger for my phone without my car being on there is a drain, but that's because motorola has a resistor in their chargers.

Re: mogul power issue

Depending on what's powered up, its possible to use more power then the charger supplies.

I think all radios on + active data I/O + cpu grinding away + torch mode backlight (ie, full bright) will draw quite a bit more then 1000ma.

A normal load should not, but might draw more then half that so you can still get drain if you're only getting 500ma out of the charger.

Re: mogul power issue

This has happened on several phones that i have come accross and use many different chargers that work with other 6800's just fine. The battery gets very hot and has even been changed with brand new batteries.
