Maybe you aren't connecting to the Internet? Try opening up IE and see if you can get on Alltel Wireless and see if the IMs work.

Not having any data connections issues. There is a bug in Palringo that causes it to keep trying to reconnect with no solution found on the Palringo fourms. There are also bugs in slick (which connects just fine).

give fring (http://www.fring.com) a shot. i found it works pretty well and handles voice as well (with some limitations).

Did Palringo use to work for you? Did Palringo recently itself on your phone?

No. I downloaded and it was working through my activeSync connection. As soon as I try to use it on an alltel data connection (either 1x or EV) it breaks. Works on WiFi as well.

I use alltel as well, and finally broke down and paid for an agile messenger license, it's expensive, but works well and is failry stable.
