Instant messenger dilemna

I have a ppc6800 through alltel, currently running the latest no2chem ROM. I'm trying to find an instant messaging service that works with my phone and I've run into some issues. Here they are:

Palringo : really like this, especially because of the way it Q's offline messages for you. Only issue is that it doesn't connect! I keep getting "Reconnect pending" over and over and over. .... (unless on activeSync)

Slick: No message Q'ing that I can figure out. Messages sent to Pidgin show up blank. Shows mobile numbers from AIM as offline (should be online always). Shows HTML formatting from aim as well. Doesn't vibrate.

OZ: Doesn't work on alltel I'm assuming?

OctroTalk: Just don't like it.

None of the free ones seem to be any good! Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Re: Instant messenger dilemna

Maybe you aren't connecting to the Internet? Try opening up IE and see if you can get on Alltel Wireless and see if the IMs work.

Re: Instant messenger dilemna

Not having any data connections issues. There is a bug in Palringo that causes it to keep trying to reconnect with no solution found on the Palringo fourms. There are also bugs in slick (which connects just fine).

Did Palringo use to work for you? Did Palringo recently itself on your phone?

Re: Instant messenger dilemna

No. I downloaded and it was working through my activeSync connection. As soon as I try to use it on an alltel data connection (either 1x or EV) it breaks. Works on WiFi as well.

Re: Instant messenger dilemna

I use alltel as well, and finally broke down and paid for an agile messenger license, it's expensive, but works well and is failry stable.
