Re: sling box for mogul

Boy... I can't say enough good things about the Slingbox. Yes... I'm guilty of driving and "watching" the slingbox. Mostly, I listen to the audio of games. I'm a huge football fan and have a brother who plays college ball. He happens to not play for my favorite team. So I drive to his games, while watching/listening to my other team.

Here's the set up you want. Get a Arkon mount, it turns so you can watch full-screen sideways. Then get an FM Mod, or a tapedeck. Run the audio right through your car speakers! It's the way to go!

I use this setup:

with the headphone jack plugged into the aux input of my Eclipse NAV/stereo/DVD head unit.

Or get a bluetooth enabled deck! I use a Pioneer 7000BT. Although Best Buy has the sony with bluetooth stereo and phone hands free for $170, heck that is cheaper than the no hands free ticket here in Washington.

While the FCC is not involved in analog signals over cable, don't bet on it sticking around much longer. Comcast and Time Warner are already phasing out their analog channels because they take up too much space on the line and they are under a ton of pressure from the satellite companies to add more HD channels. In a couple years, I would be surprised if much more then the network channels remains in analog.

In other words, all the posts saying "nothing to worry about" are false. There is a lot to worry about with regards to analog channels over cable lines. Just two weeks ago I noticed Comcast removed 3 analog channels from my lineup...

Auctualy Comcast has a sh?*t load of money tied into keeping analog alive for a few more years to come. They will hav analog untill they deciede to stop please the 90+ year old crowd that doesn't want a cable box. Yes we do keep moving channels out of analog to make room for more hd and digital channels. 1 analog channel is = 3-5 hd / digital channels. The FCC mandate was only for over the air broadcasts (rabbit ear / antenna reception), not cable systems. Cable systems eitehr take a digital channel and pump it through a scopus box or take the analog channel right from the reciever and push it out.

Aren't we getting off topic here?
