Re: Alltel GPS with A-GPS - super fast lockon

the link that brings u here goes to post #2. i tried to get toby to copy that info to his post.

another link may come here to post #1, but i said just for the troubleshooting section.

i dont have a diamond so im not comfortable with modifying my write up. get tobychris to borrow info from my post to make his better.

toby only has the telus pde ip and port. people with different carriers should use their carriers pde ip and port. see post #2 in here.

Re: Alltel GPS with A-GPS - super fast lockon

I tried this on an HTC Touch, assuming that it might work the same... the GPS connects rather quickly now, but the phone will randomly restart if the GPS has been on too long. any idea about this?

How hot does your battery get?

its the software your running. are u using a turn-by-turn gps application? if u are, then u are running out of free RAM. The device is reseting because it cannot run the OS when the RAM gets too low. the devices only have about 15-25 MB ram after boot, and that is not enough for some of he more demanding applications. see if there is a cache setting for your software and see if it can be adjusted. it maybe in the registry. i can not help you with your RAM issue. but let me know if you do not think this to be the case.

this issue was discussed in this thread, or in the gps easy way thread. look for that. they may have resolved the issue.

well, it's only happened while i wasn't using the phone at all. i never thought about battery temperature...
it's only happened while i have the GPS on and the phone plugged into the wall. it takes probably a couple of hours before it'll restart.... so maybe GPS + charging = overheat?

Yup. That's your problem I think. Try putting it in front of a fan.

i think that verizon phones need to be patched reguardless of wether u use 6.0 or 6.1. but i only have the patch for 6.0.
I have searched several forums and feel overwhelmed at which is best to unlock GPS on my Verizon VX6900. When I came across shadow-techs I thought this is the best and simplest yet still uncertain of the 1-2-3s of it. Do I have to have a rom update or flash or do I just follow instr from pg1 thanks, confused

Re: Alltel GPS with A-GPS - super fast lockon

in this thread, there is a requirements section. one of the requirements is to have your gps enabled. this particular thread is how to IMPROVE upon your already-enabled gps. so, under the requirements section there is a link that you are to follow if ur gps has NEVER been enable. once it is enabled, come back to this thread to drastically improve the gps performance.

step one: goto the gps easy way thread and follow the directions.
step two: come back to this thread and follow the directions.

Re: Alltel GPS with A-GPS - super fast lockon

Htc touch diamond on Alltel 6950 i think. All appears to be set correct yet getting seeking gps satelities(0). Used a regeditor to confirm reg settings on ppc. Re ran phone in diag mode and got setting using qpst, they are correct. Went into phone/setting checked that location service is on. Checked external gps settings. Still no go. should this work on this phone?

Thanks in advance.
