Verizon 6800 use on Sprint Network???

Didn't sprint and possibly a few other carriers get sued over this not too long ago? I remember the case being about the carries not releasing the esn numbers even though it could be used on another carrier. I would have imagined they would have become more relaxed after that, if they lost once they could easily lose again.
