Re: GPS Primer and Live Search

If all else fails, re-update the ROM. E911 location should be default enabled all the time.

Re: GPS Primer and Live Search

Well he's using Sprint, so his GPS should be locking in 5 seconds or so. I recommend what everyone else has been saying (Start->Settings->Personal tab-->Phone->Services Tab->Location Setting) and turn Location ON.

Then download a GPS toggler (Try BAF toggler, doesn't require a primer). Sometimes it takes long to get the initial lock, but then it'll do it consistently faster each time. Keep an eye on the BAF GPS toggle (which is on your todays screen) and watch it change, so don't open anything else until you see a lock.

Re: GPS Primer and Live Search

For Sprint users there is NO reason for your GPS not to work unless you either done something wrong cooking your ROM or you don't have your settings right....Now Verizon Users like myself might want to consider radio 3.39.10 for better GPS locks. Some say that's not true but I know for a fact my GPS is alot better on that radio and I am unable to lock on 3.42.30.

I was having the same issue, searched around and found this thread... I know it's been dead for a little while (and not sure if you ever found a resolution), but here's what I just did that worked:

- went into Start, Settings, System, External GPS
- changed the "GPS program port" from COM4 (default) to COM3

At that point my phone hung, so I had to do a soft-reset. After it came up, it was still set to COM3. Tried Microsoft Live Maps, got a fix very quick. I then went back in and changed back to COM4, just in case... the change took immediately, no hanging... I re-tested Live Maps and saw no issues.

Hope that helps.

Re: GPS Primer and Live Search

the agps fix resolves most 'primer' problems. some apps my still need it. live search doesnt not need to be primed with the agps fix done.

agps fix thread:
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=36377

this fix will survive flashes and hard resets.

I'm running the 6.1 and I use TeleNav and LiveSearch with no problems. My friend had the same problem after she flashed the new rom. She a hard reset and all worked fine.

Re: GPS Primer and Live Search

When I used Live Search for the first time after flashing my ROM it wouldn't get the GPS position and told me it couldn't communicate with Port 0. I went into my settings and changed the GPS port from 4 to 0 and it worked fine after that. Also if you go into your settings in Live Search you can change what port the GPS communicates with.

even on my 5 day old mogul, when i had the stock sprint rom it took way longer than just 5 seconds to get a lock on gps

after flashing it with Titan WM 6.1 build 20748 GPS kitchen it still takes a while to get a lock (usually around 20-30 seconds)

i wish it was 5 seconds to get a lock

and btw, i use 'HTC GPS tool' to prime it
