Re: well CRAAAP! water logged phone

yeah, do not EVER use a blow dryer to dry it out. you should have taken the battery out immediately, and dried off all visible moisture, then place the phone (kb out) and battery in a jar of dry rice. i dropped mine in a puddle and left everything in a jar of rice for 2 days and it still works. the rice sucks out all the extra moisture that would otherwise (eventually) wreak havoc on the inside hardware of your phone.

fyi, drop it in a pool and claim water damage (that is, if you have insurance). i think its a $50 deductible.

Re: well CRAAAP! water logged phone

If the phone is up and sync'd id advise trying to use MyMobiler to see if you can use your pc as a display device. Just remember that you have to press the left soft key to install the app on your device.

I know how you feel. Last night I went swimming and my mogul got splashed more than expected. I went home and placed it over the vent and woke up in the morning, turned it on and was fine.

Re: well CRAAAP! water logged phone

Well, how much longer do you have remaining on your contract? And do you have TEP?

Because even if you do get your phone to work, you will most likely run in to many issues like corrosion in the future.

If you have TEP [assuming you're on sprint], you could do something that may violate your morals... I don't condone it, but you could say you lost it. Do NOT say it was stolen because that requires a police report. Do not say you dropped it, because they will look inside and tell it was in water.

Anyway, I know what its like to have your expensive phone damaged not be able to afford a new one. Luckily in my case, I just dropped it. Took it in and got a new one for free.

If you have TEP, you don't have to do anything that might "violate your morals". TEP covers liquid damage. Call Asurion (the company that handles insurance claims for the TEP insurer) and tell them your phone has water damage; they will replace it for the $50 deductible.

from the insurance brochure as posted on the Sprint website:
Quote:
Protect your Sprint or Nextel phone or smart device against loss, theft, liquid or physical damage.

Re: well CRAAAP! water logged phone

wow you guys are great! But my guardian angel took care of everything... at least for now. I plugged it in and opened the slide and went to sleep. I woke up to my phone ringing and lo and behold I have full brightness on display AAANNNNDDDD touch back! I'm so excited! I am planning on getting a new phone soon anyway so I think I'll just stick it out and see what happens.

TEP? Insurance I presume? Nope, no insurance. I've never done anything this stupid before and usually have a phone or 2 floating around extra in case I do do something stupid! But I sent them in not too long ago for credit.
