That ROM is also built off of a broken ROM with LOTS of well-documented compatibility issues...

Anyways, the treo 700wx wm6 has over 36mb after boot and runs quuite a bit faster. I NEED to know how.

maybe because resolution is 240 by 240 and does not need support for switching screen orientation. could be one thing

Ding ding ding.... we have a winner. I knew there were major hardware differences. Likely its that, plus any number of other things pulled from the OS, smaller drivers, bits removed here and there. Anyway, its apples and oranges.

No, that doesn't even come close to explaining an additional 10MB+ of free RAM at bootup.

The only logical explanation is that they've heavily customized the OS and, as schettj said, possibly were able to use smaller drivers. A genuine major hardware difference is the fact that there is no WiFi, for example.
