flashing can void your warranty if you go INTO AN ALLTEL STORE WITH A CUSTOM ROM ON YOUR PHONE. otherwise if you go back to normal "ALLTEL" rom then it shouldn't.

i personally like DCD's since he has just released 3.2.2 a couple of days ago, but before that i was using NO2Chem's 19588 rom. I like them both.

i just use the integrated gps that comes with the roms and dont use a specific "gps file" such as gps today.

i dont believe you actually need the gps file as i have never used one and my gps works fine.

i believe you need Hard-SPL 2.40-olipro on your device first.

the easiest way to upgrade the radio is to download a radio file from wherever(should be in .rar format)

un-rar it

copy file inside (should be xxxxxxxx.nbh) to a micro sd (NOT SDHC) card

insert into device

hold camera btn + power and push reset btn to force into boot loader

it should bring something up and follow instructions

once it says finished, soft reset

All DONE !!

which radio 3.42.30or 3.42.02?... i heard the new ported 1 might have some problems with certian carriers...is that alltel?

i'm not sure. i'm on sprint and it improved my signal strength and gps lock time. it's just a matter of testing it to find out.

3.42.02 is the stock radio which came with the stable sprint rom and will not cause any problems. 3.42.30 was ported from the touch and may cause a loss in signal. you will just have to test it to find out.

I m using Alltel and I am using latest Alltel rom. I know the latest rom doesn't include GPS. Rev A is just about the upload speed.

The files I attached in previous post worked on mine and another Alltel member on this forum.

I actually encourage you to try to flash yours to some other custom rom here if you want to and share your experience. Since I don't see much Allteler here, I worried to flash it to those rom that not really decide for Alltel 6800.

BTW, as I mentioned before, the GPS files I attached would not make any permanent changes. You will need to reinstall it again if you do a hard reset. I guess that is kind of mean it would not make a permanent damage to your phone if you worry....

i finally found a .02 radio...i think but when i go into bootloader it goes past a gray screen then tricolored serial screen. ni instructings or w/e.
