i cant get gps wor
 

i am trying to get the gps to work and i have read a few threads but im very confused. I followed the steps here: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=17032 with COM4 and i set it as COM4 in livesearch but it says "Sorry, Unable to communicate with GPS on Port 4". any help would be appreciated. Also i am on alltel and ive read there are problems with it connecting?

im not sure if alltel has the gps enabled on their version of the titan. what rom and radio are you using because that also may be the cause if you don't have a gps enabled rom/radio?

I have Rom version: 3.35.671.9
Radio Version: 03.37.20

This version of the Rom came out a few months ago and is the official one alltel releases (got on HTC website).

I don't know if that ROM has this program on it, mine is a cooked ROM. If not maybe a search will net you a cab file to install it.

Go to Start>Settings>Connections. You should see GPS Today I think is the name. When it opens hit Open Port. Then I think the other button below says Start test. Use that and see how long it takes. I can use it sitting inside my house and lock within a minute on 5 satellites. Use that to "prime" the GPS then open your preferred GPS software. You have to close by going to menu>quit. Hope that works for you too.

Latest official Alltel rom DOES NOT support GPS. Please check out my post with necessary files and instructions

you probably need a different rom which supports gps such as dcd's or no2chem's. They are pretty easy to install. your radio should be fine i would think.

so if i have the latest alltel stuff from htc gps will not work?... i thought that was one of the things along with rev A.

i'm not sure what alltel promised you with the rom update, but i know sprint had enabled those two things for their customers. i dont know if that applied to alltel also.

i would recommend upgrading to

DCD's 3.2.0(in use longer)

(you will also need Hard-SPL 2.40-olipro at the bottom of his post for the rom to update correctly)

just click on "mirror 1" or "mirror 2" under ROM and run it after download.

then follow instructions and you will be done. it is very easy

gps should be enabled with this rom.

also you may want to upgrade your radio, but it isnt neccessary.

2 things...i know this is off topic with this thread but, does flashing to a new rom void warenty, and is dcd or no2chems better for memory and gps? also does the GPSfiles work and is it as good or worse then the integrated GPS with the custom ROMs.
