HELP! I've "bricked" and can't upgrade...!
After three attempts to download the proper updated Radio ROM and the Titan_No2Chem_5060 version of Windows Mobil 6.1 for my Verizon VX6800 - only to end up "bricking" the device as it attempted to restart - I am now on my 4th unit. Sadly, I am NOT a novice to this procedure, either! I've tweaked and customized many a device before this!
The first time... no, sorry. The first time I loaded the Sprint version of the 3.35 radio and just didn't catch the 3-2-1 countdown. Not good. Sure - the phone worked, but only in ROAMing mode, as it was using Sprint software in a Verizon device. Nothing would switch that "Dunce Cap" off. Not even a countless amount of attempts at dialing "*228". Trip one to Verizon to beg for a replacement. With the second device in my hot little mitts, I mistakenly started with "Titan_Relocker.exe" - and I guess - not the UNlocker version. Safe to say - I was SOL... and not getting beyond the splash... that now said I had NO RADIO and wouldn't load anymore. Back to Verizon I went - and shared my situation with the techs. I figured NO ONE could be SO STUPID as to not only skrew-up three perfectly good phones, but also be honest about doing so. Thankfully, I left with my third device in less than 24 hours... whereupon I promptly started with "Hard-SPL-MFG.exe", and once that finished, I tried loading "Nex_3.35_No2_Vzw_SPB_FIXED2.exe" - and did just as was suggested and let it completely reboot (I didn't think I had to stop it from loading all the carrier software, since it was - after all - designed to work for VERIZON based devices (right?!?). Anyway, it looked for all the world as if it did what was desired, that is - until it, too, LOCKED UP - just after showing the system info at the Splash screen of the 6.1; in fact, that is the second time I fell (stupidly) victim to my own ineptness. Not just once, but THREE TIMES. Each time, I (thought I had) followed the developer's instructions to the "T". I can not express just how frustrating it is to NOT preform what is perceived to be a very simple task! Any suggestions would not only be appreciated by me, but many other readers of this forum... I'm SURE! Thanks for your kind consideration and assistance!

Re: HELP! I've "bricked" and can't upgrade...!
You know, my 3rd cup of coffee has helped me remember a bit more... I neglected to offer that I was previously (as well as currently) running with the following:
ROM: 2.09.605.6 ROM DATE: 8.03.07 RADIO: 1.30.60 Also, I was reminded that before I returned the first device - I was able to load the most recent radio (I think it was 3.49, perhaps) as well as the latest version of 6.1 - Titan_No2Chem_5067_WM6.1... and all it did was make the device reboot itself every 3 minutes. No joke. And this was a complete package... or so it seemed, loading both the radio update as well as the latest Kitchen. Wasn't very useful... what with the constant self-rebooting. Thus was the beginning of my weekend brain teaser exercise. Truth be told, I'd rather clean out the garage or push the lawn mower! Hope that helps some. Again - thank you for all of your continued suggestions! |

Re: HELP! I've "bricked" and can't upgrade...!
Some things you do out of instinct. Others - just out of habit. Still - there are a few we do simply because they either sounded like a good idea at the time... or we "just did it" and have no idea why. In any mix and match of the above... I DID take the battery out - let it sit for @ 3 minutes, put it back in, hard booted and... the phone continued to load as desired... only to shut itself down and self reboot... over and over and over and... well, you get the picture. The only way to stop it was to remove the battery wait and put it back in. That was following the installation of the latest 5067 kitchen.
