Re: Tether using Linux?

Not wanting to tether - just sync and trx files from the desktop ...

total ubuntu NOOOOOB, will it [ synce ] work?

was thinking Id run win4lin under ubuntu 8.04 for those nagging win apps that cant be replicated, like activesync.

I use a vmware XP image. I spit on the floor when I boot it Activesync runs fine that way.

Re: Tether using Linux?

Now that I have SynCE setup, it is a solid and quasi-broadband solution.

Re: Tether using Linux?

I have a question for my fellow SynCE users. How do I prevent incoming messages/email/calls from disrupting my tethered connection? There are times when I'm mid-download and I don't want to be interrupted (e.g. say when I'm not grabbing a torrent). I'm using a Sprint Mogul and Ubuntu 8.04 on an old ThinkPad T42. Thx.

Re: Tether using Linux?

has anyone tried using bluetooth to tether on linux? I got to the point where linux recognized my HTC Titan as a wireless modem, but when I dial up, it gives me the error #777 dialing error. I believe it has to do with some of the initialization string. Any input?

Guide (but for cingular): http://litljay.com/howtos/tether/kppp.html

Re: Tether using Linux?

Cingular users seem to put AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","WAP.CINGULAR" as initialization string. What should we put?

Re: Tether using Linux?

Word to the wise: Make sure odccm isn't running otherwise you won't get an IP address. I did it this way though.

I pulled a 1319 Kbps down though. I get a constant 100kB/s download it seems.
