I know I'm missing something very basic but my brain isn't functioning this AM!

Can you walk me through how to rename a read-only file using Total Commander?

Thanks. Jack
You can only copy a file over them, you can't rename them. They are built into the rom. (unless you're using stock sprint.. they might be added by the carrier customization, in which case i don't know why total commander is giving you trouble)

Or edit the registry entries above.

So, I am assuming that if I change the sound_on and sound_off values to phoneon1.wav and phoneoff1.wav I can essentially add those files to the windows directory and have the new sounds play instead.

ill try this when im done upgrading to vetvito's rom

Thanks Guys, I've been trying to fix this for a couple of weeks and was striking out. The reg edit works great! No more annoying startup and shutdown sounds!

This sounds like an entirely different thread to me.
