The registry key (as posted ealier in the thread) is->

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\SoundCategories\Rin g

in that key, there will be a DWORD entry= 'InitVol'

mine has a value of 3. not sure if that is stock or not. the idea here is that you would increase this value to 5, or maybe 6 (NO CLUE WHAT THE 'TOP' NUMBER WOULD BE, so use at your own risk)..
in doing so, would theoretically make the volume louder on the ring..

I've never found any volume registry hacks that stick after a soft reset.. my experience is they usually defaut back to stock.

try this hack out, and post back if it works for you , even after a reset.........

Once again I recommend the free ware audacity for amping up your mp3's and wave files for your phone...thusly you don't need to make these settings too high..
Wow umm the EXACT path was a few posts above but.....well.... OK
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\SoundCategories\Rin g (InitVol changed to 2)
Speaker value changed to 3 but I live dangerously the setting is up to you !!!

Re: Definitive Ringer Volume Registry Adjustment

init Vol appears to be the Volume specifically for the "ringer" since were in a Ringer Folder/ Key ..if you will...

Also someone asked if these hacks ( modifications) Stick ..YES they do but I was careful to shutdown my mogul after making the changes then soft reset it just to check if they stayed and they did....

SO back on to topic,....Speaker appears to be the setting generically for the speaker I.E. effecting "Most" stuff as even my screen clicks and other crap are now louder...

Now I played with three values AttenuationCategory, InitVol & Speaker...

I have those set at 2, 4 and 4 respectively.

By just plain trial and error I found [unconfirmed] that the first key "AttenuationCategory" can make the other settings null and void so I put it back to 2.
Also I found that setting the other two values to "5" left my phone too quiet,,,much quieter than having them at "4" [CONFIRMED] so maybe I stumbled onto the max setting by trial and error....I dunno ... but my crap is nice and loud now like I like it...
So The Final Fantasy Advent Children ring tone screams out overpowering the simultaneous vibrate when I get those calls without specified ringtones assigned to them. I'm so Cool

And yes Its not a stupid question larger number = supposedly louder ringtone...until apparently 5 which left me angry since I wanted it a bit louder...but 4 will do nicely... so try 1's call your phone and try 4's and call your phone.....if you like it shut er down --wait 30sec--- start er up again...check the settings ...do a reset (soft) and check the settings again..and have a great day.... hit my scales

I feel bad, I've had this thing for several months now and I havent installed the development tools and SDK yet cause I've been busy at work with real projects but I bought this thing to teach my self mobile 5 & 6 development...then I could just look in the SDK for what the hell "AttenuationCategory" is for but well,, I digress...

So I had to go through all this (I Think) because SPB shell and SPB Pocket Plus left my ringer way waytoo soft so I wiped my crap clean to remove them.... They are nice tools but my device felt sluggish and weighted down with their apps on it... the finger induced flips and graphics crap were cool but not worth the loss of snap in response in my opinion... AND I was running HTP's Performance cab at 624 but still had a really bad feeling with those apps installed. So I killed em ....

If you really read about QMenu and WkTask you will be content with those and HTC Customizer/HTC Home...IMHO.. Qmenu just took some time to really understand how it functions ....I can do without the "touch-esque" tricks. This device doesn't have enough on-board MEM for that stuff.

Lastly (finally)THANK YOU To EVERYONE Who kept screaming to me to give up on Windows Mobile Remote Desktop and just use LogMeIn....

I LOVE YOU I LOVE YOU I LOVE YOU I LOVE YOU THANK YOU !! ! !
Ok---So I can't actually write code in that little window,, but I can easily check my email on the work machine, and address emergency issues now...

FROM MY PHONE --- AWESOME !!!!

Re: Definitive Ringer Volume Registry Adjustment

Look guys HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\SoundCategories\Rin g\InitVol

DOES NOTHING

What I mean is this, if you go to your volume there are 6 settings. If you go to that registry directory path you will see you can go from 0 to 5 and there is no difference if you go over five. Is anyone seeing the relation yet?

If you set the registry to 2 and then chek your volume, it will be on the 3rd tab. If you set it to 5 in the reg and chk the volume it will be on the 5th tab.

AND if you change the volume with your stylus or scroll whell or whatever and then go check the reg, you will notice it changes in accordance to whatever selection you chose earlier.

I do agree that if your ringers are low in volume to use a 3rd party app (I use Wavepad) and amplify them.

As for remote access software I use z2 Remote2PC and has always been great and easy for me.
