Thumbs down Threaded SMS (txt) Backup / Restore

Please ignore the 1 post count. I'm actually very good at reading and searching. I've been a member for quite a while, and managed to do just fine so far without any help.

But now I'm stuck.

Got a Titan that I upgraded to the new NO2Chem (5059) and I'm having trouble with the threaded SMS.

I've got a PIM Backup of my TXTs before I reflashed. When restoring that file onto the new ROM, the only way to do it and have it work correctly is to disable the threaded SMS.

If I try to do it with the threaded on, it totally fuxors my conversations. All mine at the bottom or the top, the other persons vice versa, messages not showing up, basically a big pile of crap.

How can I take the (non-threaded) SMS backup that I've got and have it properly restore into a threaded environment?

I've tried PIM and also tried using Sprite, but it did more than I wanted it to.

Thanks,

SBB

Re: Threaded SMS (txt) Backup / Restore

I'm curious as to the resolutino of this as well. Aren't the texts just stored in a different mail folder under the Windows directory? I remember someone mentioning this when using FunContacts Threaded SMS...

Talking Re: Threaded SMS (txt) Backup / Restore

So after about 6 hours of effin with it, I think I figured it out.

Here's what I did.

* Backed up all SMS information via PIM Backup
* Flashed phone.
* Ate a burrito.
* After flash, ensured that threaded SMS was disabled, if not do so and soft reset.
* Restored PIM Backup information.
* Enabled threaded SMS.
* Soft resetededed
* Opened TXT messaging and let it build the conversations.

This is where I kept getting time after time and things wouldn't work right. The flow of the conversation didn't come up correctly. The next step seems to fix them.

* Opened the TXT messaging SENT folder and let it load.

After that, when I went to messaging everything was correct.

Lemme know if this works for other people. I did a LOT of stuff trying to figure this out and it's slightly possible that you'll have to open up your backup file and do a little reordering in it. I don't think that's the file I ended up restoring, but it could have been and once it started working I wasn't going to mess with it anymore.

Bueno Suertes!

Re: Threaded SMS (txt) Backup / Restore

I'm working on getting a burrito. In the meantime, where is the setting that can disable threaded SMS? I'm quite stumped.

Re: Threaded SMS (txt) Backup / Restore

Here's a fix I found on xda developers:

Hi all,

I have found one reg tweak to disable threaded sms in KAISER forum of xda develpoers .. I tried in ELF and it works like charm..

its

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Setting s\OEM\SMSInboxThreadingDisabled

you need to create OEM key in Settings and create a DWORD SMSInboxThreadingDisabled and set it to 1

reset the device and you are now back to normal SMSs..

It also does not disable SMS notifications..

I searched but didnt found if it is already in forum.. If it is there dont bash me

I think you need something to wash down the burrito with.

Registry key edit is how I disabled it. There's also a nueTool for it, but I didn't have it on there at the time.
