Re: Can't get Mogul to travel Local Time

You can do it by setting time to Sync with the NetWork operator, Then the time will change according to the network tower.

Start->Settings->Phone->services->Time Synchronization->Enable the checkbox to sysnc with the network operator.

Nope..that setting does not affect the Timezone that the phone is using...I live in Texas and just finished a trip to California. The timezone stayed set to central time until I forced it via the 'Visiting' time zone setting.

Yep...sad but true, I just got back from Hawaii and I had to set mine manually, I kept waiting for it to auto sync and it didn't, meanwhile my wives Centro with the archaic palm OS synced the second she turned it on after landing....pretty gay if you ask me....

Damn, I thought that was the fix. What does that synchronization setting do?

Re: Can't get Mogul to travel Local Time

Mine does it automatically but only after I loaded the MS DST update cab. Just flew from EST to CST a few days ago and my phone switched automatically. I wish that it would have changed the "visiting" time zone and activated that, but it changes the "home" time zone when I travel.

Re: Can't get Mogul to travel Local Time

Interesting...I installed that patch...but not until the morning that I left California to come back to Texas...so I will have to see what happens the next time I travel to a different timezone.

That setting just updates the time... not the time zone. Basically, it keeps your time updated as long as you stay within the same timezone. If you travel outside the timezone, it still updates the minutes/seconds, but the hour is left in your home time zone (as specified on your device).

We're all looking for something that will update the time AND the timezone, like 99.9% of other phones in the world since 1972.

Why would you want it to change the visiting time zone and not the home time zone? I am guessing that changing the home timezone automatically will off-set all your appointments by however many hours, is that right?

If you set your phone to "visiting" time zone, how does that work for calendar entries? Say your home zone is PST, and you travel to New York. You have a meeting at 10am in New York, but you put the appointment in your phone when you were still in CA. If you put your phone into visiting time zone when you get to NY, will your phone be smart enough to know that 10am refers to NY and not CA? Does that even make sense?

Re: Can't get Mogul to travel Local Time

Using the 'Visiting' timezone setting works just fine with calendar entries. They all update to the appropriate time slot.

I wish that the "visiting" time zone didn't affect the calender entries. Then having the phone automatically change the visiting time zone would work great. As it is, the phone will automatically change the "home" time zone and all of the calendar appointments change accordingly.
