Can't get Mogul to travel Local Time

Does anyone know how to get the Mogul to change it's time to the local time, depending on where it's located. I do a lot of traveling and many times I go to sleep in one timezone and wakeup in another. I want to have my Mogul change it's time when I enter a new timezone so that when I set my alarm it will wake me up on the local time. I'm pretty sure they get this time from the radio towers but the mogul seems to set it's time from the internet. I've tried combinations of turing off the auto update feature but it doesn't seem to have any effect on my problem. I had a Treo 700wx before I got the Mogul so I know it's possible on a windows device but I can't figure it out on this one. Can anyone help me?

Re: Can't get Mogul to travel Local Time

I looked into this issue several months ago...

After searching for the answer and posting the same question the general consensus was that PPC phones do not have the capability to automatically update the time as they change time zones. To my knowledge this is the case, and there isn't a way to change it.

Re: Can't get Mogul to travel Local Time

There has to be some way to do it, it gets the same information from the towers that any other phone does right? Maybe something that utilizes short bursts of GPS to check the location then query a net time server?

I wish I knew how to program rather than troubleshoot.

Re: Can't get Mogul to travel Local Time

None of the Pocket PCs i've owened were able to do it automaticaly. But if it will help you you can always do it manually. Settings\System\Clock & Alarms\Visiting then choose the time zone you are in. Then when u go back home, switch it back. Thats what I've been doing for the last 3 yrs.

Re: Can't get Mogul to travel Local Time

I know you can do it manually. I was hoping that there might me a hack or program out there that might be able to enable this feature I had on my Palm Treo 700wx. I know the OS on that was Mobile 5. This is the ONLY thing that I don't like about this Mogul. If I could figure out how to get this to work it would be 100% perfact. I'm just sorta lazy I guess. All my phones in the past when I set my alarm at 9am, it would wake me up at 9am local time depending on where I am. The only reason I ask is because I travel and most of time overnight while I'm sleeping. I guess I just don't want to have to think about it before I go to bed as to what time I have to set my phone to to wake up at the right time.

Re: Can't get Mogul to travel Local Time

I realize this thread has been dead for a while, but I just came across it in my searching.

dan9980 said ppc phones are not capable of switching time zones. I know this to be incorrect, because I have several friends with the at&t tilt, and their phones update without hesitation. We went to a conference in a different time zone, and when the plane landed, we all booted up our phones, and their's were the right time. I looked at the 'clocks and alarm' settings on their phones, and they have an additional tab with the option of automatically adjusting for time zone changes.

So the technologically does exist, it's just a matter of getting it on our 6800/mogul/whatever.

Goto Settings--Phone--Phone time sychronization and check the box to synch the phone with mobile network automatically

That has nothing to do with the OP's concern.

Re: Can't get Mogul to travel Local Time

I would love this feature. need it badly.
I wonder if someone could post a screen shof the extra tab and settings on the Tilt?

Surely it couldn't be too difficult for someone to either port this feature or write it, or get the reg. settings?

Maybe someone could PM No2Chem and some of the others who loove writing unique and very helpful programs...

Re: Can't get Mogul to travel Local Time

Its ironic that PPC seem to be the one phone that doesnt do this. Most $50 pos phones will auto adjust. THE ONE PHONE THAT NEEDS THIS FEATURE MORE THAN ANY OTHER CLASS OF PHONE. Oh The Irony...
