Re: Roaming Icon Issue

I am having this issue as well. Maybe my experience can shed some light in to this. I have a Alltel PPC-6800, It had the WM6 ROM installed when I got it about a month ago. I travel a-lot for my job and anywhere I was in the country I had the solid triangle roaming indicator.

Just the other day I upgraded the rom with the new update on HTC's website to enable EVDO rev A and a BT fix. This is the newly released update for Alltel. I also manually updated the PRL to the 40036 from the 30031 that *228 defaults to. Since that, when ever I travel I not get the ultra annoying blinking triangle, as well as my signal strength indicator also blinks.

I called Alltel, and they did not seem to have a clue. Anyone have any new input? I have heard the solid icon was an indication that roaming would be billed for and the flashing was a free roam. Maybe this old rom did not have support for the blinking icon, and the new rom does? anyone have any info??

Re: Roaming Icon Issue

Talked to a senior tech support yesterday while in KY driving and when i asked the blinking question he was like... let me guess you did the update to the rom....DUH YES

anyway he said with the update now we will have a blinking triangle when in the free roaming areas, friendly roam.

The difference is now with the update, they have added a "enhanced roaming indicator" fancy terms for IT NOW BLINKS... so all is good with the blinking except it drives us crazy...

I would be willing to bet that it wont be long til there is a hack to run it off.. there has to be something in the registry to make it blink in good areas and solid in bad.. someone just needs to get it to switch

Re: Roaming Icon Issue

Damn blinking. I'm forced to roam because there's no Alltel Wireless in Orlando, FL. I'm on Sprint with Rev A. and this blinking is driving me nuts! (WM6.0/HTC.COM)

Re: Roaming Icon Issue

It's not the PRL, it's the system ID. You have to go back in and manually set it to your correct system ID.

I am an Alltel employee that has fixed this issue more than a dozen times for people that have flashed phones, and has flashed more than two dozen phones. Call customer service and ask what your system ID should fix the issue. *228 option 3 should also fix it, and it's odd if it doesn't.

Re: Roaming Icon Issue

Yes!
If you have Alltel then you must do *228!
But if you have Sprint, do as like me!
Just install right *.prl.
If you don't know, or can't find right *.prl, then go to your phone provider and ask for right *.prl!
I fix roaming issue by going to my phone provider!

Give it a try. Let us know if it helped.
gg102--Thank you buddy! That blinking light & roaming message whenever I got a call was driving me crazy! I was being told by Alltel's service personnel to select option 2 & when that didn't work then just to deal with it.
