Roaming Icon Issue
 

First of all thank you to DCD & No2chem and many others that have posted walkthroughs and help. My flashing went perfect with your help.

I'm having an issue after upgrading to the various 6.1 ROMS. When I go into a roaming area, I get a flashing triangle (roaming indicator). When I'm not roaming there is no indicator. My work pays the bill for my phone, so the home area is when I'm at work. I live like 30 mins away, so when I'm home I'm roaming. Worked like that before any ROM updates, but icon didn't flash, so it wasn't a problem. The flashing/blinking icon is very annoying and casues any other icon that comes up to the left of it to bounce back and forth as the indicator blinks.

Like I said before the flashing went perfect and have absolutly no other issues, Email, GPS, Internet, EVDO, all great. Did the *228 option 3 & 2 to setup and update roaming info.

I would like to know how to get it to stop blinking or just remove it completely. I don't pay the bill and don't get charged to ROAM so I don't care if it has to be totally removed. Reg edit would be fine, or even an app that removes or changes it.

I have searched here and xda forums and google for days before asking.

My Setup:
Alltel ppc6800 with dcd 3.0.1, radio 3.35

PS: If any other Alltel folks have a question for me I would be happy to help. I have flashed to 2 different custom ROMS than back to original and then back to DCD's.

Did you find a solution for this? I am actually in the same exact boat that your are in. I've manually updated the PRL file and still cannto get the triangle to stop flashing at the top. Please let me know if you have any insight.

I have same probelme!
I had this triangle problem since upgrading to new radio and rom version!
I send my TITAN to my service provider and then, they unlocked my phone for 25$.
It has work fine until hard reset :(
After had reseting, i'm in same situation ;(
Can any1 know how to fix this triangle problem ???

i'm wondering if editing the prl would help. that's the only place i see anything dealing with 'roaming indicator' in the prl section.

well, one way is this

settings>personal>phone>services>network service click on get settings

I changed it from standard to home only. that got rid of it. I was expecting no service but in my case didn't happen. the triangle is gone. i get a small decrease in signal strength for apparent reasons.

I have Alltel and had the same problem. Here's what I did and how I solved it.

Do the #228 thing, but do a "Activate" ( menu option 3) rather than update (option 2) . When I talked to Tech Support, they said that this happens, and that doing a "Activate" is fine, and only resets things back to "normal". It solved my blinking triangle roaming issue.

Give it a try. Let us know if it helped.

The Blinking triangle may be annoying, but the triangle means that you are in a friendly roaming area and you will not see roaming charges.. Normally the indicators dont flash on smartphones.

Oh Lord yes,, that dat blamed triangle just makes me bite my dang nails... lol
I ended up selling my qwest mogul that I put on alltel, and bought another alltel 6800 just because I couldnt take the triangle,,
I tried and tried to figure it out.. but hit a ](*,) brick wall,, because the nvm and efs are locked on this phone.. and I believe what I was looking for was in there....
