Re: Turning Mogul into laptop replacement - MANY questions...

Hardware upgrades.

Memory: cannot be upgraded due to space/design limitations. This has been thoroughly researched. There is a thread in xda-developers regarding this. Search.
Front camera: again, where would you put it? And the additional connections to the boards would require extensiv modding
WiFi and bluetooth: Limited by the installed hardware.
32GB microSD: These have only recently been announced and will cost upwards of $600 bucks
Battery Cover with microSD storage: Probably the only doable upgrade you want.

Summary: Anyone who claims this can be done for even $2000 is pipe-dreaming. Besides all this would be no good without a larger vga screen. The device you seek isnt made by anyone yet and likely will be years before technology will meet your desires. Well, there is one made, but it's called a 'laptop'.

Reminds me of some of those old Looney Tunes cartoons where the characters have grandfather clocks strapped to their wrists, instead of watches.

Re: Turning Mogul into laptop replacement - MANY questions...

The device we want (except for the keyboard) exists but it is not for sale, just a concept phone built to show off the capabilities. It is beautiful as well. Maybe we won't have to wait for years.

4" VGA, 256meg, two sdhc, HD hardware encoding, 750mhz, 3D interface by NVidea, ect.

Check it out: <<SNIPPED>>
Quite convenient of you to 'miss' the part about "free" where I was talking about faxing. Also quite convenient of you to forget to mention in your post that it costs a minimum of $16.95 per month.

Thanks, but no. I don't fax enough to justify the minimum $16.95/mo that eFax wants. I also have heard over the years of slimy practices from them, and don't want to be involved with them in any way.

If you have a dialup modem, and a landline, yes. The tool to do it comes with Windows XP Professional.
