Which gps programs tell you which side of the street your destination is on?

So with all of these gps threads you'd think the answer to this question would be somewhere, but I haven't seen it.

So far I tried TomTom first, and I like it very much except it didn't announce street names and it didn't tell me which side of the street my destination was on once I arrived. If I need a gps unit to find a business or something, it means I haven't been there before, and I most likely won't know which side it's on. This is an important feature.

I next tried iGuidance and it had both street name announcements and the side of the street thing, so I stuck with it. Well it's getting annoying because it's route finding decisions are not nearly as smart as TomTom was. Also it's poi database isn't very complete.

So I was thinking of trying iGo or Garmin, but I thought I'd ask here fist and see if those of you actually using them can tell me if they have the above two features.

- Announce street names
- Announce which side of the street once you arrive

Oh, and I'm only interested in offline navigators, ie they don't require a data connection, and you download the maps seperately. I'm often outside of cell range.

Telenav will tell you toward the end of the trip. "...Continue .2 mi and your destination is on the right." I just updated my ROM and tried Sprint Nav/Telenav for the first time this weekend.

I like the multiple way point routing also.

I think TelNav uses the data to draw the maps...actually, I'm positive it does because I never downloaded any maps yet they're all there.

Damn that $10 a month though....

I used to have it for free on my old phone, telenav was awesome, i just wish I could find it cracked like the old one i had so i could use it on my mogul

$10 a month for service is not bad at all.

I have a worn out copy of Mapopolis. I liked the routing it had; always
very smart. As it's not supported anymore, I'm looking to replace it.

Can anyone compare iguidance or garmin mobile to that?

Mapopolis locks my phone once in awhile; and the keyboard symbol isn't
displayed so one has to use the slide out keyboard to put addresses in;
and finding the correct map is not so hot; very slow.

I use IGuidance 4.0 and it tells u what side of the street your destination is on when you are within 500 ft of it. Does not need a data connection maps are pre-loaded u need at least a 2gb memory card to hold the data though. works very well in my opinion.

Yeah like I said in the opening post, I have been using iGuidance, having replaced TomTom with it and I chose it because it has the text to speech and announces the side of the street when you arrive.

My problem with it is that even when switching between quickest, shortest, and major, route finding options, it never gives me a very logical route. Tested against TomTom, livesearch and googlemaps, it's by far the worst in this regard. Also the maps aren't very attractive or well rendered compared to TomTom.

I did read in the other gps poll thread that TomTom was updated with text to speech so I may try it out again if I can track down a new version.

Otherwise I might try iGo or CoPilot, but I was hoping to get some confirmation about their features before spending the time to install them just to find out they don't do what I want.

Also... the house address numbering is Even is on one side and ODD on the other side of the street... just find which side is for your destination by looking at other addresses.

That's easy in residential areas, but in business areas it can be hard to pick out street numbers - especially if you are in an unfamiliar area and are focused on following the directions. Also, if you are choosing your destination using POI's, the street address isn't always readily available.

MioMaps doesn't do it. Intellinav (which is based on iGuidance) does.
