This is correct. You probably need to add a certificate to the phone as well, as OWA is usually setup as secure.

You will most likely need to get the cooperation of the IT guys. Sorry, no way around it and if you do something that is in violation of their policies some organizations will not react lightly. Better to go through the front door and not take chances.
