Tethering is SLOW!

Okay so I'm really confused here. Tethered I get about 50kbits/sec, while I get 700+ when browsing on the device.

This is through USB and it makes no difference between ICS and PDANet, same speed.

Anyone have any idea whats going on here?

You sure that's not 50KB (about 500kbit) you're seeing?

USB 1.1 should be faster then EVDO, so that's not it.... any chance you've put the phone somewhere where it gets a bad signal?

For me, speeds are always better tethered vs on the device, as the device is just being a dumb modem (not much work there) vs trying to render pages or otherwise process the bits.

Trust me, I know the difference between 50kbit and 50Kbyte

I can't even get a test on Speedtest.net to complete... shows about an EIGHT HUNDRED ping and then never downloads anything...

I wonder if it has anything to do with not having PAM on my account but I've made three phone calls trying to get it added to no avail (SERO).

I did a full hard reset (meaning ##786#, not a normal hard reset), reprogrammed the phone, and now I'm tethering at 700

Lately I am getting the same result at home (3-4bars/5 signal) SLOW SLOW on EVDO, 1x is quicker.. lol But not the same result at work (2-3bars/5 signal)..

@ work I can get ~ 1400 dn 400 up @ home I can't even bring up a speed test site.. haha

i'm still with you clock.. still experiencing painfully slow connection speeds overall. i have no clue what changed or where to start! it hurts... it hurts so bad lol.
