Question Problems with my Southwing SA505 bluetooth headphones

I just purchased a pair of Southwing SA505 headphones and they sound great! Range is outstanding and I experience little to no chopping (unless I have data/wifi/and bluetooth on at the same time). However, I have a big problem, when I call people they cannot hear me. Here are the facts:
  • Music & sounds play great once paired
  • I've selected both "hands free" and "wireless stereo" selected
  • I can record a voice note in Notes
  • I can create a new Voice Speed Dial and it records just fine
  • When I press the "Record" button on the side, the "listening" sound plays through the phone and it doesn't pick up what I'm saying through the headset.
  • If I call someone I can hear them just fine but they cannot hear me
  • I paired the headset with an old 6700 I have around and it recognized my voice command when I hit the "Record" button. I couldn't test a call with it because it's not an active phone
  • If I press the "play" button on the headset, it activates the "voice command" and the little "listening" sound plays through the headphones but it doesn't pick up my voice
  • While playing music using TCPMP or WMP, the play, next and previous keys do not work at all. Play brings up the voice command, next dials *8 (according to the manual this is a Cingular specific function), and previous does nothing.
Any ideas? I'm thinking there might be a registry setting or something that I could change to make it work but I have no clue.

Update:

If I have the microphone retracted, it controls WMP and TCPMP just fine. With the mic extended, however, it does strange things.

No takers? Is there nothing I can do in the registry or through a different ROM that would fix this?

Re: Problems with my Southwing SA505 bluetooth headphones

Second update:

I think I've narrowed it down. My mogul can record voice just fine when using notes to record but when I go to choose and/or record a Voice Speed Dial, I get no pickup from the mic. The sound is still routed through the headphones, but it uses the mic on the mogul to pic up instead of my headphones. Any ideas, I'd really love to get this working before I ship these back.

I'm having the exact same problem.

I've tried multiple phones and the same result.

Re: Problems with my Southwing SA505 bluetooth headphones

After playing with everything for a while, I found out that you cannot use the SA505's to talk with the boom mic extended. It has to remain retracted (which diminishes the sound quality for people you're talking to). It's not horrible, but it works. As far as music, I've got everything working fine and it sounds great! I use either TCPMP or Mortplayer so that I can adjust the equalizer and I rarely have any problems listening to music through them.

Re: Problems with my Southwing SA505 bluetooth headphones

I saw your reply where you mentioned retracting the microphone. Unfortunately, there was still no sound being p***** through the microphone or the phone itself. I guess it depends on which type of phone you have. I have a blackjack II and everything works EXCEPT any mic during a call.

Oh well.. might just be taking this guy back. Too bad as it seemed like a very promising headset.

Re: Problems with my Southwing SA505 bluetooth headphones

Oh, I forgot to mention one other thing. When I initiate a call from the phone (I've got a Mogul), both the audio and my voice go through the headset. However, if someone calls me, I have to answer the call on my phone, then push the "play" button on the headset in order to route the call through them.

Honestly, my personal opinion is that if you're looking for something to use with calling alot, this may not be the headset for you. However, if like me, you use them primarily for listening to music, they're pretty perfect.

Re: Problems with my Southwing SA505 bluetooth headphones

Exactly what I was thinking with the music. I think it is the result of a defective pair of headphones. At least they work for music and I picked them up on ebay for $25 (including shipping). No real money lost and I have a pair of headphones to boot.

Thanks for your responses.

Yep, that's about how much I paid. Plus I bought a cheap bluetooth dongle for my pc at work so I can use them there as well.
