Active Sync

Ok I have searched through this and several site looking for help.. Now i will post and go shoot myself.

I have installed Active Sync on my other pc. For some reason it starts on a reboot of my PC. It places the Icon down by my clock then for some reason after a few seconds. The icon goes away and I cant get Active Sync to reopen. I have unistalled all firewall and virus programs I have open the port on the windows firewall (which is off)...

I am ready to take my bat to the PC... I go to start programs active sync to start the program and nothing happens. I go to the exe file and try to run it that way and nothing happens.

Someone has to of had this happen to them...

Any help would save a life and a pc...

Start - Settings - Ssystem - USB to PC - is "enable advanced network functionality" checked? if not check it - try to sync again....

if this doesnt work, post back here and we'll troubleshoot some more.

I think Nautica was sayin to make sure enable advanced network functionality was "unchecked". I know for me personaly this is the only way Activesync will work for my home pc.

If that doesn't work, open your pc's task manager and look in the processes tab for:

wcescomm.exe
rapimgr.exe

and end both. Then connect your PPC, and manually open Activesync from pc start menu.

Ok...so I've been having ActiveSynch issues on my work computer since I got the phone. AS always works on first install and then it won't start again on any subsequent boot-up and it won't start manually. You can click on it from Start and you'll see the hour glass icon for a few seconds and then it just stops.

I just tried your suggestion and stopped the two processes. Magically, AS started. I was going to name my first child after you. Then I attached my phone and I got an error window that said, "Synchronization cannot be completed successfully. Reconnect your device and try again. If the problem persists, see the Microsoft ActiveSync Troubleshooter in MSFT AS Help on your desktop computer."

Any idea why I'm getting this? And will I have to manually shut down those two processes EVERY TIME I want to sync? What is the conflict that's causing the problem in the first place?

Thanx!

Shawn

Sounds like the same problem I'm having now. Funny thing is that I had this issue before the "process end" find. I'm kinda stumped at this point.

And no you don't have to keep ending them you can stop them before you boot up. Goto Start>Run, type msconfig and goto "Startup" tab and uncheck wcescomm.

Activesync as a whole is a headache... but Ill try to figure this out and report back.
