Active Sync

Ok I have searched through this and several site looking for help.. Now i will post and go shoot myself.

I have installed Active Sync on my other pc. For some reason it starts on a reboot of my PC. It places the Icon down by my clock then for some reason after a few seconds. The icon goes away and I cant get Active Sync to reopen. I have unistalled all firewall and virus programs I have open the port on the windows firewall (which is off)...

I am ready to take my bat to the PC... I go to start programs active sync to start the program and nothing happens. I go to the exe file and try to run it that way and nothing happens.

Someone has to of had this happen to them...

Any help would save a life and a pc...

Start - Settings - Ssystem - USB to PC - is "enable advanced network functionality" checked? if not check it - try to sync again....

if this doesnt work, post back here and we'll troubleshoot some more.

I think Nautica was sayin to make sure enable advanced network functionality was "unchecked". I know for me personaly this is the only way Activesync will work for my home pc.

If that doesn't work, open your pc's task manager and look in the processes tab for:

wcescomm.exe
rapimgr.exe

and end both. Then connect your PPC, and manually open Activesync from pc start menu.

Glad to help... dont mean to hijack the thread but maybe smeone coould help me (or maybe heard of this problem)

I can sync with no problem whatsoeva at work but when I connect to my home pc it never (*fully*) syncs. I plug in the cables, Activesync looks for changes for approx 3mins and I get a sync error. But when I check my Outlook contacts they have been updated. weird?

in my experience with m$ AS, the profiles like to corrupt ALOT... if you havn't tried this already it "may" help...

When there is no phone connected, open active sync and remove all partnerships for your phone, then when you connect it will redo the initial sync config and setup a new partnership. usually gets rid of my issues where it stalls during sync like that. gl
