Oh god, another noob question

So I bought a iphone theme, and after a few hard resets and losing all my phone contacts (twice) I figure'd I'd ask a forum or someone who knows what they are doing



After some reading on this forum and searching, It seems everyone is just tweaking their already nice home screens. My question, being a complete noob on PPC is where do I start? If you could start over what would you do? What is this new rom I'm hearing about that frees up memory? Could someone point me to it and maybe help out with the install? I'll gladly paypal anyone who could help me get my phone looking great as well as performing good. I have installed WA desktop. However, I am about to hard reset for that last time. Noob question, I hate those, they are the worst.
Before you do anything get PPCPIMBackup. This will allow you to back all contacts and PIM data (emal/OEM text messages) . Then restore this after your hard reset.
Never put your email in a public forum. Your just asking for spam. Aks for someone to PM you or use the chat at the top of the page.

The new rom/radio that we are talking about is 3.16 that allows EVDO rev A (faster data) and Stand alone GPS. You can read more about it HERE. This release is a leak and is not official. There is some bugs in it but overall works ok. The last thing that I heard was the official date was 2/22 (rumor?)

As far as what to do after a hard reset. 1st things first, restore contacts. After that it is a personal preference. First thing for me is install the basics, Resco (better file explorer/reg editor), wisbar lite (cascading start menu), fTouchflo. Then its the programs that I use, then all of the customizations.

Thanks, I probably won't mess with it. I lost about 400 numbers due to it freezing up and not doing anything after my first attempt of messing with it.

You might want to look into using an exchange service. Then you will never have to worry about having an up to date backup of all your contacts/emails/notes/calendar events/tasks. Also nice if you have to hard reset while on the road. Just re-sync with the server and you're good to go.

Another quick and dirty backup method would be to just copy pim.vol from the root of your device to your storage card.
