Oh god, another noob question

So I bought a iphone theme, and after a few hard resets and losing all my phone contacts (twice) I figure'd I'd ask a forum or someone who knows what they are doing



After some reading on this forum and searching, It seems everyone is just tweaking their already nice home screens. My question, being a complete noob on PPC is where do I start? If you could start over what would you do? What is this new rom I'm hearing about that frees up memory? Could someone point me to it and maybe help out with the install? I'll gladly paypal anyone who could help me get my phone looking great as well as performing good. I have installed WA desktop. However, I am about to hard reset for that last time.
