well I feel for you...if it help you feel any better Sprint and Verizon are very serious about NOT reactivating phones that have been reported lost or stolen...that doesn't mean you will get it back...but the idiot that kept it, could get pinched if he goes to a sprint store to try and activative it...but everyone has "dirty" hook ups who knows...I saw on a thread somewhere that ebay has a mogul "like new" starting bid price for a penny...check it out...

Re: Sadly lost

Well I just tried Sprite Terminator 1.1.6on the Unoffical rom Titan (Sprint) (3.16.651.0 ROM and 3.27.00 Radio with PRL 60610) and when I click on TEST GPS and I get a window saying no GPS. Has anyone else had any luck using Sprite Terminator I am assuming it has to do with the start of the GPS. I usually use AstroGPSLauncher so I am wondering if the same concept needs to be used to use Sprite terminator.

After posting the above my speculation was right...
OK I was right it has to do with the GPS not going on unless you launch a GPS program (Since I use AstroGPSLauncher) it automatically turns the GPS on when I use TOMTOM or IGuidance. But Sprite Terminator only finds the GPS location if I launch TomTom or IGuidance with the AstroGPSLauncher. Has anyone else experience something different??

Wouldn't work even if it was an ok thing to do, which it isn't, because you have to actually make calls with the phone after putting insurance on it.

When will Terminator save you?
Find your lost phone using GPS - See exactly where your phone is and track it.
Lost or Stolen Phone - Remotely Lock or Wipe it
Decommissioning a phone for re-cycling or resale - Don't risk leaks or embarassment

Why should I care?
Personal or Corporate Data on Smartphones means you risk your privacy and/or your company’s confidential information. According to the Gartner Group, over 250,000 cell phones and PDAs are lost or stolen at airports every year, and only 25 to 30 percent of them ever make it back to their rightful owners.

Key Features
Locate your phone using GPS - See exactly where your phone is and track it on via Google Maps, or Virtual Earth.
Set and Forget – Once configured, Sprite Terminator is unobtrusive and can only be uninstalled with the correct password
Remote Delete – Send an SMS message to initiate the wipe operation including all external storage cards
Remote Lock-Down – Send an SMS message to lock all functionality or re-set the device master password
SIM Change Alert – Receive a notification SMS message if the SIM card has been changed
Activity Retrieval – Send an SMS message to retrieve call log entries
Supports all Windows Mobile 5 & 6 Phones

That is a neat program. Thanks for telling us, monkey.

One thing -- they turned the phone on finally, so the remote wipe went through. Also, I enabled Sprint Family Locater on it, so I can see pretty much which house it is in!

Unfortunately, not a hospitable neighborhood. Maybe with a police escort... So I called and called and sent many a text message, offered $$$. Showed them I knew where it was. Begged. Pleaded. Then, finally had the service turned off. They never used it.

What to do?
I understand that you might be able to get an ex-football player to take a few of his friends and recover your stolen property for you...

Re: Sadly lost

Not sure if you have already given up on this but...

My wife lost her phone once and I called Sprint to see what my options were. I was basically told 'so sorry but gotta replace it'. I recalled hearing about the Sprint Family locater service and asked them about activiating that on her phone but I was told it needs to be enabled using her phone. It seemed I was out of luck but I decided to try the Sprint family locater service anyway. I activated it on my Mogul and then checked online to see my location and both phones showed up on the map! Luckily for us I knew where it was due to the location being fairly accurate and was able to go retrieve it.

This may not help in your case if you don't have another phone on the account to start the service but it might be worth it to check with Sprint or just go online and try. Of course the phone would have to be turned on too. Here is the link to the sign-up page:
