My Titan is FUBAR!!

So I’ve been trying out the 3.16 and the many custom roms made from it (dcd and nuRom v2.0). The connection to the net was too flaky for me so today I decided to go back to 2.17. I flashed the stock rom straight from HTC and then loaded up a custom rom using doguy’s kitchen. Everything was running great and I loaded up some programs that I didn’t feel like converting to OEMs. Now this is where it all went down hill

After I got everything just as I wanted it and after soft resetting the phone, I hit the power button to put the phone to sleep and went to get something to eat. When I came back I hit the power button to wake it up and….. nothing happened. I thought that was strange. It never did that before. I did a soft reset and that brought it back to life. I called my voice mail, check. I connected to the net, check. I put it back to sleep and tried to wake it back up, nothing. The green LED lit for 4 seconds and then went back to blinking, but the screen was black. So I soft reset the phone AGAIN, and the same as before.

So I figured there was something wrong with the kitchen. Maybe it didn’t like my phone for some reason. I flash back to 2.17. let it run the sprint stuff, soft reset again. Put it to sleep and still would not wake up.

This is happening on a stock rom and I’m out of ideas. Over the last two weeks I must have flashed over 20 times. At least 8 to 10 times today alone. Did my luck finally run out. Is my phone FUBAR?

Wow -- that really sucks. Do you have insurance?

can you add insurance to your account? If so, maybe you could call them and add it. Wait a month and claim it as lost (DO NOT SAY STOLEN because that requires a police report) Sounds like you are SOL.... sorry bud

i believe when i flashed the stock 2.17, it included the radio also. when i flashed the rom from doguy's kitchen my first thought was it was the radio, but i guess not.

as for insurance, my thoughts are if i screwed up my phone, i should fix it (with a little help from my friends here of course). although i'm not ruling out getting insurance and claiming a broken phone, it would really make me feel bad.

I had the same problem w/ my Titan! Did the same exact thing before and after it happened! Used 3.16 but unsuccessful and went back to the original ROM release. Next, thing u know, black screen of death! Looks like it goes to sleep and stays stuck in the sleep mode or reverts back to sleep mode after pushing the button. Definetly a firmware issue.

Well, luckily for me...I have insurance! I took it to the shop told them I flashed the ROM to 2.17 and it never worked the same. True story. Within minutes, the tech said we're just gonna get ya a new one instead of spending the time to figure it out. I asked him when will the replacement arrive? He said in 2 business days. I said SWEEET! Got me a brand new Titan that I really really like and for no money outta my pocket! No deposit, no nothing! My old one had alot dings and dents so that's another plus.

I would try and flash the ROM to the original release and see if that works and if that doesn't work...get insurance and use the same line I did. After all, you did techically upgrade the firmware.

Good Luck!

something to try...

If nothing else works....

It's a long shot.. but try pulling the battery for 30 seconds... and while the battery is OUT... press the power button a couple of times.

It is possible for power management circuit/chip to become latched... this can be caused by, but not limited to, an incorrect command/garbage code being sent to the PM chip. The chip may lock up until actual power is disconnected and it can be reset to shelf position.

If you want more information.. check out "Buffer Overflow". It's basically incorrect code passed to hardware/software that causes a halt state. New ROM passing out incorrect codes?

what bootloader do you have on your mogul? if you still have the new one, go back to the older one. i tried going to the 3.16 ROM, was unsucessful and flashed back to an official sprint rom. everytime my phone went to sleep mode, i had to soft reset it to get it back. flashed back to the old 1.XX and it works fine now.
