Just a quick thought, but possibly the perceived memory leak, might be an illusion.
I say this because i have found that the 6.1 update seems to have made my phone seem more responsive, even though i dont have on average the 25mbs of free memory like i did from prior rom version. when i did have the 25mbs of free memory from prior roms, i didnt get the same quick responsiveness as i do now. And to let u know that i do tech support for computers, and there are alot of bios updates which correct the misreporting of the system memory for 1 reason or another. since it seems that even though the memory might be leaking, the phone seems to be performing pretty well/ its possible that these PPC might also have a issue with reporting the actual memory status/ just food for thought
