today screen background and data connection notification

I have a cool 240x320 picture that i use as my today background, and it works great, but when i open the keyboard and switch to landscape, it makes the picture look weird (it shows the top half then repeats itself). is there a way to have the picture change orientation when i open the keyboard, or to use two diff pics for portrait and landscape?


my second question has to do with the data connectoin bubble that says "dialing 777..." Is there a way to disable that notification?

If you uploaded a picture from your PC or Sd card onto your device and set it as the background, then you will not have a landscape version until you have a 320x240 version (240x320 is portrait) of it as well.

Look for a program called ThemeGenCe. It is a theme maker and you can input images into it and it will create portrait and landscape backgrounds as well as many other tweaks in a .tsk file; this file is what your devices uses for Today Screen themes. Once you make a .tsk with your desired theme, place it in the \windows directory. Soft reset. Then go to Start-->Settings-->Today and you will see it in the list of Today themes...

Is there any easier way to do it than with themegen? it has a ton of options, when all i really want to do is have the picture rotate when i landscape, instead of having it crop and start over.

also, does anyone know how to disable the "dialing #777..." dialog?

i found in another post. Go to settings > sounds and notifications > notifications > Event > Connection established > Uncheck 'display message on screen"
