Sometimes smaller isnt really better. Wasnt MiniSD really small enough? Pretty soon there will probably be some NanoSD which is a quarter the size of the the Micro and you will have to use jewelers tools to install it.
I just like to be prepared for any situation that might call for entertaining myself for hours. You never know when you might flip you car into an NON-EVDO ravine and need those cards to occupy time while waiting for rescue.

I think the benifit of the smaller card is so that the hardware used to read that card can be smaller thus making the devices smaller and lighter, in this form factor, every bit of space counts, I think that is why they piggy backed the audio on the USB drive too after all they have to have one to hook it up to a computer and that means they don't need to waste the space putting in a 3.5" jack. Everyhting is about making the device lighter smaller and with more features after all right?

Another thought is with the advances they are making with these things it won't be long until we see 40GB or even larger solid state drive preinstalled in these device.

Sandisk has announced sampling of a 12gig micro and will probably actually release the card with 16g sometime this year.

I absolutly know that that is the reason. It doesnt make them easy to keep track of though. To tell you the truth I really do not not want my ppc much smaller. Thinner, fine. But personally I would actually like a nice VGA or better resolution screen that was a wee bit bigger. I think you meant the 1.5 jack for headsets right? I think they got rid of it since bluetooth has gotten so popular and at least they did include an adapter even if it is kind of an akward one.

I agree too that future ppcs will probably really not have much use for external storage. As the price of flash drops we will get more and more internal storage just like you can pick up a lappy with 350 GB now or a desktop with 1TB pretty regularly. Hell look at the new Ipods, I look enviously at the 160GB classic.

too bad my computer doesn't seem to like sdhc, so i can only read and write to my 8 gb card thru the phone. it still works well enough tho.
i never swap my card for fear of losing it. i just wanted one that was big enough for everything. 8 gb seems to work so far.
i hear 32 is going to be the limit for this phone. will that be enuff?

and don't feel bad about the ipod classic, that still uses a hard drive. taht would add considerable bulk to the phone.

I dont feel bad about the classic, I choose a touch over it. I could just really use that extra space. I have like 37 thousand mps so i have a hard time choosing what goes on my touch.

You just need a new SD adapter that supports HDSC. My built in card reader doesnt work either but the adapter that came with my card i got for my digicam does.

If you need more than 32 on this phone you have issues I personally cant stand the screen so i wont watch movies on it so I will probably never need that big of a card. I want a 32 on my PSP though. That would be frickin sweet. I use my psp as my movie PMP even though I have a touch too. The PSP has the best Screen IMO.
