Another thought is with the advances they are making with these things it won't be long until we see 40GB or even larger solid state drive preinstalled in these device.

I absolutly know that that is the reason. It doesnt make them easy to keep track of though. To tell you the truth I really do not not want my ppc much smaller. Thinner, fine. But personally I would actually like a nice VGA or better resolution screen that was a wee bit bigger. I think you meant the 1.5 jack for headsets right? I think they got rid of it since bluetooth has gotten so popular and at least they did include an adapter even if it is kind of an akward one.
I agree too that future ppcs will probably really not have much use for external storage. As the price of flash drops we will get more and more internal storage just like you can pick up a lappy with 350 GB now or a desktop with 1TB pretty regularly. Hell look at the new Ipods, I look enviously at the 160GB classic.
